Hello OcUK!

I'm having a dust problem in my room, everything in my room gets a layer of dust within two days. I (My mum) clean/vacuum my room once a week but it's still not enough to get rid of all the dust.

I've just cleaned out my HAF-X front filter and dusted the outside of the case, but tomorrow I will have to do it again... Do you have any tricks to keep the dust out, as I live in a big Victorian house so the ceilings are super high? I also thought I should mention, my carpet is cotton and pretty thick.

Help!! :p

Hello OcUK!

Love it... xD

First thing's first, put the computer on the desk. Then at least it won't be eating up dust from the floor.

Second, do a complete spring clean of the room and get rid of all the dust and start a fresh, then invest in wooden flooring ;p

Hi KD

Thanks for the reply. Between you and me, I actually don't have a desk. Don't even ask how I use my PC. lol

Maybe next weekend I'll (My mum will) do a complete spring clean of my room, is there anything else I could do though? Because it is a fire hazard aswell and can't be good for my health.

1. as you dont have a desk thats you first big problem, your pc will be eating dust 24/7, if you cant get a desk then atleast get something down on the floor to take the pc off of the carpet.

2. The hoover wont bite you and im sure it wont break if you turn it more than once a week, show mummy you are looking after your room and she might just buy you that desk you need.

3. Apart from cleaning every day then is not a lot else you can do in the HAF X case to stop dust, Good case for cooling.
What GFX have you got? Why are you having to run fans at 100% ?

Invest in a desk or atleast get it off the floor somehow.

Change the room your computer is in if it means you have to be in a room with your mum you will just have to wait for her to leave before looking at your porn ;p

I dont know how old you are but as you are old enough to know something about computers and dust problems you are old enough to clean your room start doing it as your mum could be giving you a hint by not cleaning it properly ;p

take it 2nd part of 3 is aimeed at me?
9800gt but its weird i can manualy set fan speed fine, but if temp hits 70 it reverts to auto n drops fan to 35% making it go over 85...
then i get artifacts n gpu shuts down lol.. have to run it at 100% while gaming just to be sure :)

heard its a bios issue tho so gunna mail pny soon enough good job its still under warranty :P

Yea sry DJ got mixed up in post's i think. have you tried using rivatune or even msi afterburner both should be able to set your fan speed for you.

just sounds like u have OCD to me :P

i have my pc on the floor, and use filters in the front of my case,, yeah they get dusty, but i only clean them every 3-4 months, dont have any case or cpu temp problems.

and u do realise where dust comes from right ? all the vacuming in the world aint going to stop it,, unless u all your family walk around in bio suits

i have the same issue, i clean my machine out once a week, and brush the outside of the case down with a oversized paint brush every day, dust filters on every intake fan always helps too ;)
