Mass Effect 2 on the PS3

Cheers. Not played Mass Effect 2 on Insanity before, it's proving to be very tough. Recruited the Scientist and Archangel but the latter cause me some big problems. Autosave occurred in the worst possible place so when I failed, there was a 4/10 chance of being insta-killed before being able to take cover.

Thanks. Did most of it from memory but had to bring up the old 360 guide to ensure everyone survived the suicide mission. I'm betting I won't do that on Insanity, hell after the performance of recruiting Archangel, the final boss is going to be a real sod on Insanity :o
 
I'm gonna go pick this up from town later on this morning, I was 50/50 but reading the posts here you guys have convinced me. Not to mention Skip jizzing over this game for the past 3 days. :p

I would've bought it over PSN but I read that it's nearly £50 on the PS Store so they can just do one for that price.
 
I'm a total idiot with RPG, how do I know what level me or my squad members are at? I'm using auto level up at the moment, what does this XP thing do? I guess auto level up is a way to do the XP for you?

I'm enjoying the game so much I want to learn more about it. I might grab a guide but I don't want to read about the story - just learn more about the RPG stuff..!! I looked at all the codex stuff last night and was hooked on it.

Which is a first for me, as normally I hate anything but driving or shooting or easy to gripe type games.. Must be a good game then.. lol

Dragon Age is quite good for this too. :)

Got me properly into RPGs, and is also made my Bioware, though the graphics aren't as good as ME.
 
Clocked this last night.

Must say its a great game.... Sad its over. Now I'm left going from plane to planet looking for some action!

All of the crew members died :(.... They were taken from the normandy by the collectors. Thali also died.

Cant wait to get my hands on number 3
 
Finished this morning with 100%, 2 playthroughs with the 2nd being on insanity. Overall I think the xbox version is better, feel more invested in a character you've played ME1 with rather than that lame comic which skips MASSIVE chunks!

Graphics are decent on the character models but apart from that, xbox looks loads better. Especially the case on Overlord where the ground is horrible blocks.
 
Did my insanity run on the 360 over the weekend with all the DLC, found it quite easy to be honest. No real hard parts, not even the dreaded collector ship which a lot of people spent hours on... :/ Took me four tries!

Just don't pick Adept or Vanguard. Awful choices for insanity, Infiltrator and Sentinel are the best. I can vouch for Infiltrator, very good!
 
Playing through on Insanity first time round, ive never owned a game thats made me want to throw my controller through my tv as much as this one :mad:

So frustrating but brilliant so far :)

Has anyone else had sound issues by the way? I had the sound go all muffled (as if you were close to death) for about 2hours of play..
 
Finished this recently. Due to the time I took I lost pretty much all my crew members when they were abducted. I did how ever complete the final mission with no deaths. And like someone else said, I got 85% odd of the trophies.

Fantastic game, but slightly hindered by frame rate problems.

I'm going to agree with this... Played the game on PS3 and I mentioned it a few posts back in this thread that the background or some of the textures down below looked a bit, low res..

Thought it was me being picky.. I do have the game from a Steam sale on PC.. So, fired it up. Night and day - you can certainly tell they had to drop back a bit to get this game running on the PS3. Why do all unreal games on PS3 struggle a tad?

Anyhow, its a great game and took me many hours to complete. Superb story.

I've also just realised that Mass Effect wasn't even on the PS3, but Mass effect 2 is so I guess the story doesn't carry over?


Just watched a review of it on IGN, they love it. Is it a bit like uncharted but in space? With good action/cinematic etc?

Wouldn't say it's like Uncharted myself.

It's a very very good game in it's own right, and although classed as an RPG, there are very few hardcore RPG elements. It seems to just borrow from the genre.

The story is fantastic, and the comic at the beginning should explain the story from the first game and allow you to make some key decisions from it.
 
I just got this today. The comic doesn't even begin to convey the feeling of Mass Effect, it's a very rushed cliff notes version of the story - almost like the blurb you'd read on the back of a movie case. It gave me something like 3 choices to make and then the game started.
I've already played the original though so it didn't matter too much and I was able to get invested pretty quickly as I already knew the history of Tali and co but I think that it might seem like something was missing if I hadn't played the first one.
It does look nice though. Not sure if it's better than the 360 but it's definitely just as good; although it does seem a bit sharper / more colourful but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me because I 'want' it to look nicer.
I'd only played this halfway through on the 360 before swapping over to a PS3 so I had to get it but I'll definitely miss out on some of the comments and stuff that come from having the Mass Effect save game.
Also it really stung having to use £40 of my gamestation trade-in credit to buy it!

Now I'm hoping that they'll get Splinter cell: Conviction on the damn PS3 - I only just found out it's an exclusive :(
