2011 Weight Loss Thread!

BMI is not to be taken seriously tbh, it doesnt account for peoples different body structures aswell as if they weight train etc

I was around 17 stone at 18, now weighing in at 11 stone 3lbs at 24.

I could do with putting on another 1/2 stone of muscle and getting the body fat to around 10% (from 15%).

The biggest lesson is knowing when to start eating again, which sounds strange but i'll elaborate.

Eating 2000 calories a day for a few years with light exercise will sit you around the 10 stone mark, but if your goal is 10 1/2 stone you need to gradually increase the food intake to maintain your weight.

I know it is obvious, but after a couple of years you get it in your head you need to eat that amount to stay slim, which isn't strictly true.

Food of choice - Beans on toast.

Me....And i didnt even have the benefit of cutting out alcohol, as i dont drink.

1st July 2010.... 6ft, 20st 9lbs, 42inch waist (how embarrasing..:o)

7th February 2011.... 14st 4lbs, 35inch waist

Target Weight by 1st May 2011.... 12st 7lb.

Basically stuck to a rigid 1000 calorie a day diet of

Breakfast: 250cals

1 Slice of toast/Marmalade
1 Cup of tea/milk/sweetner

Lunch: 300cals

1 Plain toasted Bagel/low cal spread/ tomato ketchup (:p)
1 Cup of coffee/milk/sweetner

Dinner: 450cals

1 Tin of soup (any flavour, esp Oxtail..Nom,nom,nom..:D)
1 Large portion of mixed steamed vegetables
1 Low cal chocolate kitkat type bar
1 small glass milk.

And 3 times a week i go for a fast paced 5 mile walk around the local country lanes near my house, and 3 times a week i do a 20 minute (light) weights routine to try and minimise muscle loss.

And that my fellow OCUK'ers has been my diet/exercise routine for the last 7mths or so...without fail, including Christmas Day..!!

The first 3 weeks was hell, after that the body (and mind) adjusted.

Its been grinding, boring, tedious, but its working....and the finishing line is now in sight.

And the only downside to losing all this weight is replacing your wardrobe...which is bloody expensive..:(

Not to put a downside on your diet bro but as soon as you come off that diet and raise your cals, your body will start storing a lot, low calorie diets put ur body into starvation mode... So if I was you when u come to ur target and u want to increase ur calls.. Increase in like 100 cal increments

I was 19 stone at 18 years old and i managed to get myself down to 10 and a half stone. but i crept back up over the years and went back to 16 stone.

Last year i decidied to do something about and im now down to 11.8 stone. not a massive amount but im back in my size 32 jeans again :) i want to hit 11 stone and tone myself up.

Before the wedding (June last year) I was going to the gym sometimes twice a day, i.e. jump on a spinning bike for 30mins in the morning then go after work to do a cardio + weights session. Eating around 1.5K-2K calories per day of low fat, high fibre high protein foods. Plenty of water.

Key to loosing weight is basically less going in vs going out - eating decent amounts of good food, drinking plenty of water and exercising regularly. It's not rocket science but it is hard work.

I've actually found this brilliant app called 'Weight Loss Trainer' on Android that basically allows you to set your goals and it suggests required eating and exercise regimes to reach them. It then tracks your progress meal by meal and day by day and has great charts to keep you motivated. Brilliant thing.

Very impressed!

Jumping on the bandwagon here for weight loss. My lowest I've been in the last 3 years was 16 stone and I went on the Cambridge diet (Very low calorie diet) to do that. Before I started dieting 2 weeks ago I was 19st 10lb. I tried the Cambridge diet out again but as it's purely "dust" (as I like to call it) it's very difficult to keep on it whilst at uni and trying to maintain some form of social life.

I've now moved to healthy eating which includes:

2/4 cereal bars a day (depending on calorie intake)
Large protein based meal in the evenings
Alcohol cut out unless there is a special occasion
No fizzy drinks unless it's coke zero (contains no citric acid that can cause you to be more hungry)

I've lost a stone in 2 weeks and myself and a friend have started using the Kinect a lot more to "workout". For a gamer like myself achievement hunting could save my body, lol.

Stoked - post workout (and I know it's mostly water) but dropped under 100kgs! 99.8kgs... we'll see what I am in the morning after dinner and sleep :/

I'm trying to lose weight as well. I looked like this in 2008:

I then quit smoking.

Now I look like:

Both truly terrible pictures, but you get the idea.

I put on 3 stone mainly round my gut, man boobs and backside in 8 months without really realising it. I also added around 3" to my waist. I'm currently just under 15 stone.

Now trying to work it off. I'll be happy with 13 stone, the first picture doesn't really show it, but I was a bit too skinny.

I'm currently on my weight loss mission.

Very Very Very embarressed to say that i have everyone in the thread beat for maximum weight - Eight months ago i was 30st 12llbs:eek::eek:. Yes you are right to say **** that dude was big - I have always been big but i was active as a teenager and kept my weight at about 16-18 stone (6ft 3in) until i hit 19-20 years of age, and i completely let myself go (obviously :)) - drinking, fast food etc.

I honestly can't tell you anything specific that finally kicked my arse into gear to try and sort it out, but whatever it was i'm glad it happened. I am now down to 24st 0llbs and i can't tell you how different i feel already with regards to level of fitness etc, although i know there is still a long way to go.

I've just done the obvious things - completely changed my diet, and greatly increased my level of exercise. I bought myself a treadmill, some weights and a slam man (google is your friend) and the weight is just dropping off and i've lost 10 inches of my waist and chest.

Aiming for about 18 stone as a goal at the moment, and then take it from there.

Good man - you keep it up!!! Keep us updated with how you're going!

I then quit smoking.

This is the reason I put on almost 4 stone in a year too. It was either start smoking again or swallow some concrete and put the pies down and walk away slowly. Currently in week 2 of my gym regime and the eating is getting under control so good luck to you!

Cheers mate. I've got a nasty injury that prevents me from running so it's not easy. I'm smashing out the cross trainer though and doing lots of activity to try and burn the fat off.

My problem is my drinking, when I stopped smoking I didn't stop drinking lager, I just drank more as I had more spare money to drink with. I've cut down to nothing during the week thankfully and I'm trying to limit weekend activity as well.

Still not smoking though, two years on! :D
