Anyone else getting stupid text messages from Orange in the middle of the night?

03:29 - Orange Update, we have updated your settings blah blah

04:00 - To use BT Openzone WiFI hotspots blah blah

Next day.........

00:59 - Great news, your phone has picked up T-Mobile blah blah

06:59 - More T-Mobile guff

WTF is wrong with these people, is that not something is place to stop the automated BS texts in the middle of the night?

Quick! To the internet!

Quick read the OP!!!!

I've already spoke to them, to which they relied they shouldn't be sent in the early hours which was my original question.

Orange sending me updates is not a spam message, again, it's the fact that they come in at all times of night. I don't want them to stop sending me messages, just not in the middle of the night.

Is that clear enough for you?

I'm not following you around, I'd reply the same way no matter who it was. Talk about narcissism.

I decline your kind offer of an email conversation, I have no wish to converse with you by email.

Glad I could solve your problem :).

Twice already you have come in threads to have a pop, you seem to have a problem that I would like to resolve for you.

I don't think you can Gimp, it's just some dumb terminal doing it when it fancies tbh, most likely because there's less network load in the night.

I'd just put it on silent or turn off message tones in the night, or something like that.

I use it as my alarm and for emergencies so need to keep it on.

Yeah I've spoken to them now and they have agreed that it's out of order and they have had complaints.

My original question was to ask if anyone else has these problems but it got lost with Robbie trying to be clever and failing.

I do get them too, but we're talking one about every six months, plus i'm a heavy sleeper so it rarely bothers me.

If you need your alarm you could set up a profile that just mutes the message tone but leaves the alarm/ring/etc. at the same level, then just activate it before sleep?

Yeah I'll have a look into it tonight and see if I can set it up differently.

I normally get them during the day, it's only been the last few days they see to be coming in at all hours.

Aren't you on Android, can't you mute texts from numbers? Never tried this myself.

Also it couldn't be caused by your phone not having access to the network when the update was originaly sent, and had been qued?

I was, iphone now.

I have a great signal all the time in my house so it can't be that and they admitted they do send them out in the night sometimes, which they have had complaints about.

My rant about orange is getting charged for data when I have a data plan. Getting on the phone and disputing, get the phone barred because I didn't pay(due to waiting on the new bill), get it unbarred by paying the balance that was still too high but getting a credit on my account.

Since they adjusted my account the adult filter has been on and I can't view ocuk....it's listed as off on my online account....call up and he disables both filters:S....then I get a text saying the filter has been put back on!!!

:(

Can't help with the filters sorry but for Gimp I have some explanation - this was a recent SIM update done to all customers (still ongoing) to bridge the 2g networks together. It's being done to all customers who havn't already made the switch via the websites. Sorry you got woken up, the time your phone accepts the sim update it is pretty random.

While I did laugh at Robbies response unfortunately all SIM updates are done via a special background mechanism and we have to send you an SMS after to tell you to restart your phone etc.. otherwise the network on the networks end gets a bit nancy over it.

what you cant turn it on silent because of the alarm? Does an alarm not work on an iphone if the phone is on silent?

Both the missus and myself suffered this with our new contracts a few months back.

First night I had my new Desire - 2 texts between 3 and 4 telling me frankly pointless info about the fact I have indeed just bought a contract.

Same pattern on her iPhone the following week.

It didn't bother me particularly, but I did think it was pretty poor form, to be honest.
