Do you use the word 'bruv'...?

Morning all,

Do you use the word 'bruv'...?

Do you think it's a chavy word..?

I use it when im talkign to my brothers, in a literal sense, like;

'Alrite bruv, you alright?'

But I would NEVER use it in the same context as 'mate', if that makes sense. I feel as if my way of using it is not chavvy at all, but saying the equivalent to someone who isn't your brother is chavvy

umm i dont use it i might of when i was much younger and "Hippier"

I don't exactly think it is chavy? Its quite common in Essex/East London particularity with the Capt Beef heart/Gong scene.

Anyway the Whole chav thing was so 2005 i cant believe people still go on about it.

What, and "mate" isn't?

No, never used it. I say 'mate' a lot though. I think it's more of a habbit than anything. I have always used it and so have many other people I know.
One guy took offense to it once though and told me not to say it. Suppose it can be annoying really. I was just being friendly though.

Same, I must say mate about 40+ times each day it's horrendous

I cannot stand the whole bruv/cuz/blud thing, it's one thing that irritates me beyond belief.

I have used 'Big Bro' to refer to my siblings before though, but I think that's acceptable! :p

No, sorry. That word is far too working class/ethnic for one to use.

bait?

having lived in cardiff for a while sappenin spa was a much funnier. bruv wasn't used a lot.

bruv annoys me cus white trash london kiddos use it. YES BRUV Ya get me!

Bruv is considrably less annoying than blud tho
