Let's take gaming out of the equation and decide which you would rather have for every other task. If you were to be offered a free gift, to be sitting on your desk, which would it be.

Both items come to a value of £1015. Let's not turn this into a Mac Vs Pc argument. Just basically looking for an answer and maybe a line or two on why. Try not to **** the other off.

So what will it be?

PC.
Macs have a nice UI and look pretty, but they can't be upgraded so easily and cost a fortune.

PC's are for gaming. I would only blow a lot of money on a computer that is good for gaming. A Mac isn't good for gaming and so I cannot justify the price.

EDIT: Even though the OP says not for gaming, still the PC, as any software that is of any importance to me runs on windows.

Urgh, nice way to thread**** your own thread.

I'd still take the PC over the Mac, I was just pointing out that gaming is pretty much the only reason why people spend more than ~£400 on a computer, aside from video editing and transcoding, which are pretty niche areas.

Id take the pc, the mac looks beautiful, but unfortunately like the i- phone/i -pod, it's more style over substance.
 
The Mac. That HAF case is the sort of thing used by some snotty nosed teenager. It's an embarrassment.

I already have a gaming/general PC, but despite looking quite nice it's still not the sort of thing I'd put on display. The Mac however would be placed in a location where visitors could see it. The sheer posing/pretension factor with these things is off the scale. :cool:

Having owned a Mac during 2000-2002, I suspect I probably wouldn't use it much though.

I think you're the very first guy to admit you want a mac to show off. Everyone else seems to mask there pretentiousness by claiming it's "good for photos."

The HAF is ugly isn't it. I only used that photo as an example of a £1000 computer. Any computer to the value of £1000 was sort of the general idea I was aiming at.
 
Definitely a PC. Though that particular PC wouldnt be my first port of call.

Half the stuff I do the Mac cant do without installing Windows anyway, + Hipster-ness.

Ha, if I saw it, id think shame on you, if it was on "display" id think your a dick :P

Id take the PC anyway, even though some of the software I use is supposed to be "better" on a MAC, I dont see the difference, since the software is the same....Also, since I havent used a mac since Macos 7.5 I cant use them for **** anymore.
