Which would you rather have?

I would get the mac simply because I already have a PC and i dont like the HAF case. It looks a bit like a black disabled elephant to me.

haf case looks sweet. Mac is for poser's. I don't think I've ever seen anyone using a mac actually do more than search the internet and word process...
Even for the decidedly lacklustre spec of the mac this is a waste of potential performance.
MAc simply are rubbish... people say "it looks nice" "it just works" both true to a certain extent except they go beige after a few years. And as soon as you want to do something remotely advanced, that really helpful "simple" interface becomes a nightmare to use...

For power and upgradability - the PC

For design and sheer looks - the Mac.

I just cannot get my head round why the big PC Manufacturers don't get this.

I mean Macs are basically PC architecture - Intel chips, Nvidia graphic processors etc, wrapped up in a top quality case. The designs whether or not they're Mac Pros, iMacs or Mini Macs are top notch.

Powerwise v Price the PC should win every time, but you put a Mac next to a Pc and its the Mac that gets the admiring looks and that is what sells them.

What do PC builders get? - plasticky cases with lots of flashy lights that wouldn't look out of place on a Christmas tree. Look at the recent attempts by Antec - abysmal design.

One day (I hope), one Pc Manfacturer will wake up and smell the roses and put a decent spec PC into a gorgeous case (about the only one that I've seen recently is the Asus NX90JQ), until that day comes the Mac will always get the admiring looks.

Hi Andy90, not everybody builds PC's with noody lights on ,etc. For the price of a Mac l could build a PC that will far out class a Mac in every way.

Yes I know you could, so could I, the prices that Apple charge for the internal components of a Mac are scandalous - the point is, I don't think there is a single PC case that holds a candle to any of the Mac cases.

Look at the Mac Pro, the design of that case is amazing - it is basically a PC case, but the attention to detail is awesome.

I'm a big advocate of PC's and have built quite a few in my time, I just wish someone would build a quality case.

Let's take gaming out of the equation and decide which you would rather have for every other task.

Both are around the £1000 mark. Let's not turn this into a Mac Vs Pc argument.

The systems aren't even remotely comparable. One is a glorified laptop, and the other is a sli system that you don't want to play games on. I'm pretty certain you're aiming at a mac vs pc argument.

£1k will get you much more performance if you build it yourself. Aftersales support wont be as good. That much should be spectacularly obvious.

Beyond that it's a preference thing. I don't want a mac, because I don't want OSX. I also don't want that computer, as I suspect the internal components (psu, motherboard etc) wont be up to much and SLI written on it as advertising strongly suggests it has graphics cards in it that I wouldn't want.

So, for free, I'd have the mac please. It'll be easier to sell on.

Hi Andy90, l know what you mean about finding a case it took me age's to find one, it had to be a mid-tower case, with watercooling in mind, no noody lights. Then came a cross the FTO1 and for me that was it, found it easy to work with, toolless on the things that needed it, you can take half the HD bays out to fit the longest GPU's if need be, cable management is good. But best of all l like its simpley desigined looks and not but least its got great cooling x2 180mm fans based on positive air pressure which helps keep the dust out.

LoL, have l left anything out.;)

It's not a fair comparison btw, u need to compare tower to tower, the pc isn't a screen.

Had a mac, went to pc, not too fussed on either, if it runs what I need I don't care.

Perhaps your juvenile student mentality perceived it as an argument; however it wasn't intended that way what so ever. I was simply asking which one you would accept as a free gift if it were an option. As I previously mentioned, the image I used wasn't necessarily set in stone with regards to the pc. It was only an example of a £1k computer. I'm well aware you could build a better one yourself for the money; however OcUK do have to make a profit for assembling them, to use one of your lines, "That much should be spectacularly obvious"

If you don't have anything productive to contribute please post elsewhere. However your last sentence was all that was required. Thanks’ for your contribution.

It's not a comparison, that's why

If I asked you to choose between an apple and a bar of chocolate. Would that be fair?

It's irrelevant as it only a choice. Which would you accept as a free gift. I never asked anyone to weigh up the pros and cons.

Some people are making this a lot more difficult that it is. Just answer, Mac or Pc and why. It's realllll easyyyy.

Totally agree with you there. Even so called top of the line computers come in cheap plasticky cases, mass produced plastic junk. A little sleek aluminium and some sexy curves wouldn't go a miss. Like you say, It's a major selling point for Apple.

If you put OSX in an Acer laptop shell. I doubt it would sell for half the price as it currently does.
