Rear ended :(

Yet, he tells us he suffered pain, stiffness and rubbish sleep. If those were suffered, then he's fully entitled to the comp.

I suffered all that after staying at my mate's house on a deflating inflatable mattress, does this mean I can sue him for all he is worth?

Please note that I haven't brought the OP into any of my responses.

Unfortunately realitybites seems to think that any posts in this thread are aimed at the OP.

Please note that I haven't brought the OP into any of my responses. I'm talking about the whole claim culture generally, which I think is largely blown out of proportion and ridiculous. Are you saying you'd claim if you were a bit sore following a low speed accident? Are you happy to pay hugely inflated insurance premiums as a result of so many people doing so in the last few years?

Inflated insurance prices are not just the cause of people claiming legitimate injury claims. If I'd suffered an injury which caused me pain, loss of sleep etc....yes, I'd claim without a second thought. The OP did suffer these yet OCUK (or the people on here) believe he should just 'man up' and live with it. Sod that....he suffered injury for some idiots bad driving.

If you don't want to pay inflated premiums, ask your company to remove this kind of cover...I'm sure plenty will, and I bet you no one does!

Sleeping on a crap bed can be helped.....unless he tied you down and forced you to sleep on it?

If you're not aiming the comments at the OP, who are you aiming them at? Even if it's these claims in general, you're aiming them at him considering he was involved in such a claim and posted on here with his story.

Seriously?!

"Oh hello Admiral, yes I'd like to ask that you don't use any of the money I'm paying for insurance to pay for personal injury claims, and I expect my premium to be lowered accordingly"

Yes, that'll work.

Insurance companies are businesses, and I'm sure that like any other business, they'd rather make a profit than a loss, so they are adjusting their prices as a result of the increasing blame and claim culture, amplified by idiots, ambulance chasers and the media, accordingly.

i got rear ended by someone recently, they wrote off my car and i suffered some whiplash, never made a claim for the injury at the time, now i've got a new car, my insurance policy has gone from 160 fully comp to 752 with the same insurer, and 495 for the cheapest quote, i didn't lose ncb or get a better car as a replacement, moreover i got bugger all money from the insurance company to replace the car...
i wish i had made a claim for the injury now, as someone elses poor driving and observation have put me more than a grand out of pocket

Need an example of why you should claim ^^ this guy.

I'm sure they are.....so again, I ask......are you saying people like the OP have made claims up around pain as a result of being crashed into? It would appear so.

I think you and many others are suggesting this and all posts are aiming towards it.

I agree with you that there is a culture who will make false claims causing inflated cover prices, but to slate someone for making a legitimate injury claim is just stupid

Personally I think we've got more than enough grounds to claim brain whiplash due to Mikes threads over the past year(s).

Problem in the particular case is quite a few of us have made a character judgement of Mike due to what he posts.

Yes I am saying people make it up, and yes, people are entitled to claim for a genuine injury which has seriously affected their quality of life. A stiff neck, a couple of days off work for a visit to a doctor and a couple of sleepless nights do not fall under the latter category, IMHO.

Crazy thread is crazy.
If you are injured you should be claiming. The amount you get for the injury should be relevant to the pain and suffering caused, including things like loss of sleep or stopping of normal life.

Not claiming when you clearly have suffered (issue with clavicle mentioned by someone) then you would be mad not to claim and see a specialist tbh.

Indeed. I'm with this man...and I agree with him too. ;)

Which I still stand by as not being personal injury in the truest sense of it, for me, personal injury would be something that stops you from working, evidently it didn't as you never claimed for it. ;)

surely suffering an injury to my person is a personal injury??
I had whiplash confirmed by a doctor but stupid me didn't claim it thinking i was doing the decent thing, only one winner out of this, the insurers!
