Opeth - Damnation. I don't listen to a lot of metal nowadays, but I just keep coming back to this album and band. It's amazing, and perfect for any situation. It's musical beauty.

While I'd definitely go with the above, the aforementioned Jagged Little Pill is a very good choice. Alanis Morissette I think defined the 90's (which I grew up in, hence my choice had to be from) more than Oasis, Verve or any of the Britpop lot.

If there`s a album i always fall back to and never get tired of listening to it`s this one!
Every track on this is just as good as the next, from "sound of the crowd" to "i am the law" and the rest. :)
Always shocks me when you think that "Dont you want me" was number one 30 years ago in december of this year

Incubus - Morning View

Actually a really tough choice, I was also considering Pantha Du Prince - This Bliss but Morning View just had so many songs that I absolutely love, This Bliss has some amazing songs and my favourite electronic song of all time, however Incubus take it.

I still need to get that album. That's an interesting take on her having more of a defining influence on the 90's than Britpop. Are you American or tend to favour that alternative American scene (hence REM).

REM are kind of a weird one for me. I quite liked them a lot until I questionned what it was exactly I like about them. How are stupid jangly guitars, an annoying frontman, and a general awkward arrogance of the group as a whole appealling to me? I'm not sure. The two songs I like are about suicide and some nonsensical crap about loosing religion. Weird.
