I've bought an Xbox 360

First you'll be wanting a hori ex-se arcade stick and all the region free cave games you can get your hands on :D
Pal release of Deathsmiles is out this month for around 18 quid, and muchi muchi pork/pink sweets region free double pack is out this month too but that'll set you back around 60 quid to import.
Both mushihimesama futari and espgaluda 2 are region free.

As for fps, your genre of choice. Earth defence force: 2017 is brilliant. Quite rare but you can get it on arcade for 15 quid.
Left 4 dead 2 is great on xbox. The first dead space is good and I suppose get yourself a cod.

There, that should keep you going :D

Alan Wake is a good game I enjoyed it. But maybe because I liked the way the story developed although I've never downloaded the DLC to continue my experience.

Other games I'd recommend Gears Of War 1+2/Trials HD/Shadow Complex/Halo Reach/Fable 2+3 if you haven't played that on PC/Crackdown 1+2

Perhaps you've only experienced the old ones, because the new S consoles are extremely quiet, especially with games installed to the HDD.

Mame, you may as well sign up for this, earn some extra MS points for essentially nothing: http://rewards.xbox.com/

Thats a point.....I havnt heard or seen the latest version.

I am just going off the 360 my friend got for her birthday......its so loud and as soon as there is a disk inside it sounds like a fighter jet! :(:(

Bayonetta
so much better on 360.

Just watched a quick video of that here and there is quite a big difference. Red dead was meant to be similar but I've already finished that on the PS3. If I'm going to have both consoles I suppose I should check before I buy any multiplatform games

Yeah the old ones are pretty loud even when the disc is installed to the HDD, but the Slim's aren't as bad, but my Slim also seems to vibrate a lot when its loading up games

Yes another vote for A wake here, really likeable characters, great story, graphics thought the Signal was a bit poor, but other than that one of my fave games of all time.

If you haven't, Mass Effect 1 and 2. Both are great games.

Another vote for Alan Wake as well.

Think someone mentioned this earlier, for Forza 3 is a good racing game, does what it does well, and it is easy to find your way around it and progress.

Sure these are 360 exclusives, but The Maw and Splosion Man on XBLA are really fun too, The Maw especially I think.

It's just a shame I lost my free month of gold by using my Games for windows account:(

Just been browsing some of the games on demand. They are slightly more expensive but don't seem too bad. Alan Wake is £24.99. Anyone buy games this way? Really not bothered about download times, I'd just do that when I wouldn't otherwise be using it same as I do with Steam on the PC. Can you re-downlooad the games etc once they are tied in with your account? Any downsides to it other than not being able to sell the games. I've got an OK net connection and an almost empty 250gb HDD.

Can't see any downsides apart from the price. I bought Mass Effect on there for £14.99. You can download it as many times as you want - even store it on a USB key.

They're usually more expensive and as you say, you can't sell them on.
The games are tied to your gamertag. Once on your console, any other gamertag using that console can play the games too.
You can download the games onto another console if you put your gamertag on a usb stick and plugged it into that console, any other gamertag using that console can play the games too.
Sounds very confusing, hope I made sense there :D

Not quite - only you can play it on another console and you must be logged in to Xbox Live to do so.

It's £15.99 from retail. If I'm not mistaken, you don't get the first DLC free of charge with the Games on Demand version either.
