Mine always sounded so weak. Although, once I took a hammer to an entire reel of those paper cap things. Definitely wasn't going to try that again!

Yep they were called devil bangers down here in the South.

But they do not compare anywhere near a penny bomb. I made the biggest one in school with around 7 layers of caps. It took 4 attempts to stomp on it.. but when I did it set a house alarm off and left me partially deaf for the rest of the day

The local places that used to sell them round here stopped after a bunch of older kids (this goes back 5-6 years) started putting them in car exhausts. No incidents, but a bunch off seriously ****ed off motorists.

Penny bombs definitely > bangers, I may have to see if I can find some paper caps anywhere.

I brought back mini bangers from France. They looked like tiny dynamite sticks. Think they are fire crackers. I was about 8 and put one in my dads cig. Nearly Hurt is face. Blew the cig apart :0

Rio snappers and Devil bangers round here when I was a kid. I remember spending ages unravelling packets of them to make one big bomb.

Haha, we used to throw a handfull down (gently) in doorways to shops. Then used to hide over the road and await the fun. It was like a mini episode of jackass.
