how much do you pay virginmedia ?

How are you getting 'mates rates' and 'retailer' deals?

It's a deal for staff to give to 5 of their 'mates'

The staff deal we've got:

50meg bb
XL TV
phone with talk unlimited

£21 a month (i think £8 of that is the 50meg bb)

Had been paying £20 pm for the 20mb service. Now gone up to £30 pm for 20mb

edit: I would consider the 30mb service but the £30 fee is putting me off. Although I will pay £30 a month for 20mb. £28.50 for 30mb looks better on paper, but add the £30 fee and I am not better off.

I don't need 30mb, as I now get the full 20mb all the time. The upload speed hasn't been upgraded yet. When that does then I shall upgrade.

Here's me:

Line Rental £12.24
Phone, TV, B'Band Xl, XXL Discount £-18.50
Calldivert £2.05
Talk Weekends £0.00
TV Size: X L £25.00
Broadband Size: X L £37.00

Total £57.79

I pay about £63 which imo is too much. Plus prices are going up in April about £3 a month for me. I am happy with the service now I am on 50mb , but I HAVE to go 50mb to get anything near a good enough service because 20mb was awful - I'm talking terrible at peak times due to local contention issues. So was forced to go 50mb really.

Broadband XXL (whatever one 50mb is)
Phone Talk evening and weekends
TV XL
2 x V+ HD (one up and one downstairs)
= £65 ish

I pay about £49 and get:

10Mb Broadband
Phone Talk evening and weekends
TV XL with Sky Sports and Movies
V+ HD Box

I'll be looking bring that cost down later this year. Either via an applied retention discount or by removing services, specifically TV. I don't watch half the stuff on there, especially movies and sport.

Line rental
M TV
included evening & weekend calls
10 Mb b/band
We pay £31

Use freesat for TV and only use for virgin for iplayer etc.
If it wasn't for our crappy BT connection for B/band I'd go back to BT phone as they include 1845 numbers etc

Taking just b/band from Virgin and BT phone would work out more expensive as it's £21 without a phone and BT only do 'anytime' at £5 +£13.60 line rental

Line rental - £12.24
Tasl Evening & Weekend - £3.50
Phone & B'band XL & XXL Discount - -£17.00
XXL 50Mb Broadband - $45.00
Paper Bill charge - £1.25 WTF
Call charges - £10.69

Total £55.68

Description Date/period Amount
Telephone Line Rental 04 February - 03 March £12.24
Talk Unlimited 04 February - 03 March £8.00
Phone, Bband & TV M Discount 04 February - 03 March £-11.00
Talk Unlimited Offer 04 February - 03 March £-3.95
Free Voicemail 04 February - 03 March £0.00
TV Size: M 04 February - 03 March £0.00
Broadband Size: L 04 February - 03 March £25.25
Paper Bill Charge 25 January £1.25

TOTAL: £31.79

Anyone have any idea how much extra per month it will cost me if I upgrade from my 10mb to 50mb?

Thanks!!

dmpoole, who you getting it so cheap?

The full story was (saturday morning):
I've just rang VM again to try and get a good deal for 30 meg BB because 2 weeks ago I rang up to change my package and told that I can't get rid of my TV package and the most basic package is £31.40 for 10meg BB, M+ TV and M Phone, so I decided to have that package.
After reading in the 20meg to 30 meg VM thread, I just rang up & complained and got through to an English woman who gave me 50 meg BB, L Phone and threw in M+ TV (which I won't use) for £35.
She told me that she could take the TV off but she was giving it me free anyway (it’s only Freeview plus Sky 1 & 2).
Because I was having 50 meg BB my phone package would go up free of charge also to unlimited evening & weekend calls.

50MB Broadband
XL TV with V+ Box
Extra V HD box
Talk Unlimited

£62.00 per month

Time to change i think, just had the letter through that price rises are on the horizon, and to be honest i really dont need 50MB broadband or talk unlimited and im seriously considering a movie to SKY

P.S i should also mention that this is how much i pay month in month out, none of these cheaper for 3 or 6 month deals.

Telephone Line Rental £12.24
Talk Evenings & Weekends £3.50
Phone, Bband XL & TV Discount £-17.00
Free Voicemail £0.00
M+ (Starter) £6.50

Cost to me for 20mb is more than new 100mb service!

*off to call retentions....*

If you get an Asian voice you have no chance of a decent pay/package because they have no authority to change anything.
Complain and hopefully you'll get an English voice who may do something for you.

But, it could be an asian voice from someone who works / lives in the UK! Not all asian voiced people live abroad!! Your comments are a bit racist

10mb internet

At the moment, I've wangled a bill of £0 as it doesn't work properly and hasn't been for 18 months (which I've been paying £18 for) due to chronic oversubscription in my area. They're absolutely useless and evidently don't give a flying something about their customers. AVOID!

To those above, tech support appears to be in India, Customer services is in the UK as far as I can tell. That's why.
