While im waiting to be put onto the OcUK whitelist im trying to host a private server for my housemates. it works and i can connect to it by entering "localhost" but how do i find the ip for others to join?

Control Panel > Network > Double Click on Network and select support, which will show you ip add

yea ive used that before. Im still confused like a little girl. To join to my server do i need my ip address and the

ort number. the port number comes from the minecraft_server.exe and i just put this at the end of my ip.

NOOB QUESTION: Is my IP address the IPv4 address in "ipconfig"?
(I feel so ashamed having to ask that!)

No, The server crashed, we lost 30 diamonds from our inventory reset.

1) Thank you for taking time to offer me help
2) I'm an complete idiot (Joke)
3) The server.properties file says it will use port number 25565 and using this:
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
It gives me my EXTERNAL IP and it tells me that port 25565 is closed, so i need to open this for it to work?
4) Am I right in saying to connect to my minecraft server I need to enter:
EXTERNAL.IP

ORT#

Use Himachi for private servers, makes life a lot easier.

Just need IP and password, tell your friends to DL. It's a direct VPN client.

BTW /ex doesn't work. I saw a house on fire and a bunch of us went to save it, 'unknown command' when trying /ex, had to resort to covering the fire with dirt and using buckets of water!

From the first post I believe this is the right thread to post this, my apologies if it's not I'm a little tired!

Please can you add me to the white list? My friend; minecraft username: mistercrabb which is also his OCUK forum name can vouch for me. I have clocked a fair few hours on minecraft single player and also on classic servers but have yet to play multiplayer beta. I intend on contributing towards the server as much as I can and become an active user of these forums.
