Solar flare eruptions set to reach Earth

What's the chances of us actually seeing anything? I mean literally looking up, and seeing the effects?

I really, really want to see something like the Aurora Borealis one day, and would love it if this had the same effect. :)

Is this going to be another one of those events where scientists spend weeks changing their trousers and telling us all how awesome it will be and when the event finally happens nobody notices?

I'd love it if one day something bad did happen! Bet most of u "omg tinfoil hat" bandwagon will **** ya pants and run to mummy!

You might see the northern lights.

This site will tell you if the Aurora can be seen in the UK and send you an alert:

As to the sun this is the best you will get:

An Aurora treat:

Would this cause flashes in the sky similar to lighting? About 20-25 minutes ago there was a massive flash of light and a loud boom (like an explosion) but it wasn't lightning or fireworks.

No flashes or bangs, all that is expected is some nice aurora in the high northern and southern latitudes.
