Wish I had £235 a month to throw away on insurance back when I was 19. I was paying about £900 for a 1.6 Sunny SR in 2005.

bloody hell! you're older than I thought!

I paid a lowly £1500 on a 106d in 2007 :(

I'm now down to £1500 on a Mondeo STD 3 clean years later.

Wait a minute...

I'm 21, paying £1600 for a modified 1.6 mx5 with no ncb on a 10 month accelerator with elephant.

Not too bad I think!

Hopefully should come down come renewal.

19, Mildly fettled Mini Sprite, 1 years no claims, £625 fully comp
paid £650 fully comp at 18 with 0NCB, and £650 TPFT on a Mini Cooper at 17. :)

24 Monaro VXR with exhaust and tracker - £1300 with bell.co.uk. That is declaring my Astra was pinched too.

I'm 23 with 6 years driving experience and 3 years NCB and paid ~£1100 on a brand new Mazda CX-7 2.2 Diesel.

For the first 3 years I went on my Dads insurance as I worked out it would save me a chunk of money doing that until I was 21 as reaching 21 saw a reduction in my premium.

23, Fiesta with 10bhp - £750. Anything with more than 10bhp is approximately £3,000,000 to insure with a £100,000 excess.

I'm not sure if being 25 puts me in the young category anymore, but as everyone else has I'll throw in too - 25 and paying £739 on a modified mr2 turbo with Admiral. Cant help but think the op wanted actual young people i.e. <20

Just put up with it for a few years, it'll drop soon.

When I passed I was paying £2400 for my Saxo VTR with Admiral. 18 year old male + Saxo VTR + Fully Comp (massive excess) = Vaseline Time.

It then dropped on renewal to £1565, but we took out a Multicar policy so mine dropped to £750 :D (the Multicar policy gives a nice breakdown of whose costs what).

Renewal on that was last month and mine is now £650  - I'm 20 now if 18 + 1 + 1 is hard for you :p. Would be even less (£560 according to the website) if I could be bothered to ring up and cancel it and then take another policy out now as one of the named drivers accidents is now >3 years ago so wouldn't have to be declared.

Been running some quotes on things I'm thinking of changing to...

Current Saxo VTR: £560
Clio 182 FF: £1170
ST220: £1140
Civic Type R (EP3): £1142.05
E46 330Ci: £1354.07
S2000: Must be >21 :(
