Bike is all taped up now :)

Bought 2 meters of the stuff and managed to do the underside of the downtube, topside of the toptube and back of the seat tube (front gear cable runs down here). The DT wa a bugger due to the length of it. Couple of bubbles but all in all it looks good :)

Best pics I could get due to the tape being clear :o

This first pic is the underside of the DT where it meets the stem (bike is upside down). If you look closely you can see the edge of the tape just where the stem weld is and it continues up the sides of the DT as well (got 7.5cm wide tape for this)

This is the underside of the DT again but at the BB end. You can see the tape a bit better here at the black graphics at the left side of the pic as tape reflection shows. Also you can see the straight edge of the tape at the welds of the BB. Even my best efforts left a few tiny air bubbles but, TBH, you wont see them because this is the underneath of the bike.

Last pic. This is the side of the DT. You can just make out the tape due to the refelction difference on the letters where the tape reflects the light different from normal paint (bout 1cm up from bottom of the word "Specialized")

I have still to apply the last bit to the top of the toptube but this will be much easier when I get the wheels back on the bike later tonight/tomorrow. I still have the frame sitting in livingroom upside down until I get a small amount of tape or cable ties to double secure the 2 Lizard Skins chainstay guards (I am prone to damn heel-rub, hence one on each)

Not sure what bike you have but I found the 7.5cm wide tape ideal. 5cm would be too narrow for the DT and 10cm would be too wide for the TT and chainstays but your bike might be diff.

Sorry for crap pics but I only have a phone camera :o

Been overhauling my kona today after I left it in the shed over the winter after one day of rain.

Chain, cassette and both disc brakes were ****ed. I actually have a hatred of all things hayes nine.

Stuck back on my old saints + goodridge hoses and they feel nice again with new pads and a good bleed. Shimano brakes just seem to last longer than hayes in our climate...not a patch on hope engineering wise though.

Silly question I know but can anyone recommend some decent DH/Freeride shorts/trousers that can be used with the 661 kyle strait knee pads ?

My current undura 3/4 length shorts are crazy tight around the knee restricting movement, specially during uphill climbs.

I have the Endura Singletrack 3/4 length pants, I put the knee pads on first then put the pants on over the top, they make a fairly nice tight fit - but your legs get sweaty.

However I tend to put the shorts on first then put the knee pads on - so the bottom part of the shorts are covered, again you get sweaty, but what do you expect with pads. I wear these on long day rides now and they stay put/are comfortable.

Bike tape doesn't work well with my Epic Evo. As the 'Specialized' is gloss black, when the tape is applied you cant see the graphics. = Stealth bike.

My Bro has just got him self a Genesis Cross bike. A Croix De Fer, Tis a very nice bike.
It comes with 'Shimano BR-R505 Disc' cable disc brakes. He's got some imaculate Avid ball bearing 7's, swap and sell the Shimano's? Any ideas?

Is he honestly going to notice any difference between one cable brake and another? He may well save some weight going with the Avids.
