why not? You have a brain of your own to question if what is fed you by your elders in your upbringing is true or not? So why don't you question it? If you don't mind me saying you use the word Muslim with arrogance...(& ignorance).
A lot of people are taught at an age they are told about ficticious characters.
My basis is that they don't often have a choice and it's a large part of their upbringing, some people "keep the faith" others question it, some change faith(which wreaks of hypocrisy).
But I absolutely cannot believe in a religion that is taught by man, it goes against my nature and "finding my own faith". I would sooner have crazy visions and believe in my own separate deity than submit to what other people tell me. I would not however have some false sense of reason that I must push this belief on others, but keep it to myself.
I think it's reasonable enough.

Yes I do have a brain of my own, but I believe in my religion, and I'm happy with my faith. I don't need to question it, as I've never needed to think so deep about it. How did I use the word Muslim with arrogance/ignorance?

i am not a religious man, i do not go to church. However, i will still ask/pray to God if i really need/want something to happen. the example that stands out for me is when my sister was very ill in hospital and i PRAYED that day for her to be ok and after a fortnight in hospital she was.
now im not saying God saved her. my point is some people need that little bit of faith and the easiest way to do that is to ask or seek advice from 'a higher power'.
i dont not need a bible to tell me what is right and wrong.
The world wasnt build in 7 days and there probably isnt a man watching over us in the clouds.
But i think there is more to life than just dumb luck which would be the only explination for everything that happens or has ever happened if there was no 'God' or 'higher power'.

This is both depressing and slightly worrying, regardless of the flavour of faith you have. I know you're not trying to set any examples but that's probably just as well.

You are arrogant because you seem to be making a statement you are muslim. You are ignorant because of your arrogance & blind to what else may be true other than that which you are bred to believe in. No questions asked...whether right or wrong....true or false.....no questions asked..you are a muslim....your beliefs are the correct beliefs & not to be questioned.
Well quite simply you know where the back button is right??...i suggest you click it as its people like you and your lot that invariably end up trashing such threads.
Im muslim and i question a lot of things about my faith...i dont see why i shouldnt...if anything i tend to learn more by questioning certain aspects of my faith.
I do think for myself, but why question something you are comfortable with?

It may be just a question of interpretation but when you say "I'm a Muslim..." it could appear as if you're stating a truism for all Muslims there which might appear to be arrogant. It's probably not what you meant at all but it's a possible conclusion to draw from the phrasing.
As for the original question my feeling is as it has long been - believe in whatever you want but allow others the same rights and freedom, once you start to impinge on the rights of another then we have a problem.
Where the heck did you get all that from? So if someone came upto you and said they're a Muslim. You would turn around thinking all that?
And please do tell why that bothers you??...its his opinion and hes entitled to it is he not??...without you coming in guns blazing and calling him arrogant and ignorant....so what if he doesnt want to question his faith
...I wasn't stating a truism for all Muslims. I was just stating that I am a Muslim, nothing more or less. It's as similar as someone starting their post with; "I'm a Christian", or "I'm a Sikh".

e : Vita, from memory - and take this the right way, please - it's often your arrival/contribution to these threads which takes it away from 'faith' and into 'faith, also I'm a Muslim' territory. Although this thread will end up as a train wreck anyway, it'd be nice, if only for a change of scenery, if it was caused by someone - anyone - else.

Yes.
The Reason as I don't question my faith is, because I've grown up choosing to believe and follow it. Yes as you get older, you generally start thinking deeper, questioning things and learning. But I've been that comfortable with it, that I've never needed to. I'm just happy with it to put it in simpler terms.
