It comes with 'Shimano BR-R505 Disc' cable disc brakes. He's got some imaculate Avid ball bearing 7's, swap and sell the Shimano's? Any ideas?
Cable disc brakes come in long and short throw versions, that's why there's a road or MTB version of the BB7's. It might all stop working if he tries to use MTB BB7's with long pull levers.

Hi :)

My first post in this thread!

I've had a hiccup with my employer (unfairly dismissed) and I've been given my job back...due to receive two months pay for sitting around on my ****, awesome! So, down to the deed;

Thinking of getting myself a nice new bike to commute to and from work and I was looking at the Cube Analog Disc 2011.

What're peoples thoughts on said bike, any recommendations?

Love Cube bikes, well specced especially wheels which often get left behind. Not so sure about it for commuting though, I personally prefer a road bike to commute on. I bought a mtb for commuting and quickly changed to road bike because of the time savings and weirdly a lot less punctures on the road bike.

Evening All,

After days, if not weeks of hassle from Weescott, here are some updated pics of my Focus Thunder.

After having ridden it for a while now, mainly at the local "trails" ive identified the immediate areas of concern; The brakes, the stem and peddals....They have been addressed, have one or two more intentions and luckily the wife doesnt read the forum :-)

Am off to Afan in the next few weeks to try it out properly - Which I am very much looking forward to...

Please ignore the untidy painting, and the "beige" radiator :-)

Thanks,

I have a 2010 Cube Acid and it's been an excellent bike for me so far.

Had a Pinarello road bike for years and this was my first MTB. I've done Laggan Wolftrax on it and I also head up to Carron Valley trails regularly as its a 5 minute drive from me. Have to admit that after years as a roadie, the MTB bug bit me hard last year and I spent almost all of my time in the saddle off road apart from my usual commute of @35 miles. I have to admit that I also prefer my road bike to the Cube for tarmac work, used it a couple of times to commute but I wouldn't recommend it, just my own opinion though. You could always stick more road orientated tyres on it I suppose which would make it less of an effort!!.

The Cube's are superb value, very well specced and in the flesh they look absolutely stunning. The paint finish is particularly good on them compared to other marques. First pic above the red looks Orange but that was just the light on that day, as you can see from the pic underneath its bright red. Couple of mates at work have Analogues and they rate them highly too. By all means look at alternatives but if you go for the Cube, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the advice from 'all' He's decided to sell the BB7's and keep the Shimano's.
errr well I’m selling them plus a lot of other stuff.

Was on the mtb bike for 3.5 hours today. (moving time) Trying to up the times for a few enduro's up and coming. Although ripped my Endura shorts, now in the bin. Plus i need a new chain and new jockey wheels. My kmc 10speed has gone to 0.75 within 3 months.... perhaps too many miles.

Here’s another question, I’m going back to Morzine for the second time. May go for a few years to come or to other places. I’m looking for a Spesh enduro frame 06 (can convert to SX) and there's a guy selling a practically new 06 for £550. Is this a good deal? I used to have one which I regret selling, was only £400 though.

Any idea's what i should do, build a mini DH bike or keep on hiring bikes. Will get very expensive at the current rate of hire bikes.
Any other ideas for bikes, doesn't have to be spesh, under £1000 for full bike.

That sounds very expensive for an old old model Enduro, regardless of how good they were :D

You may be able to pick up a second hand Giant faith for under a grand, check out southern downhill and pinkbike.

Maybe http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/731847/

That would be perfect, my savings for the Demo has disappeared. So looking for a mini dh for cheap as possible.

Thanks though. That looks alright.

Someone said to me the other day that you shouldn't get too attached to your bike. It's very true. A 5 year old bike is old tech. Capable old tech maybe but you have to move on. It's part of mountain biking.

Did you not rent and enjoy the full on DH bike last time? With all the chair lift access you can get away with a big bike for so much more riding.

I did rent and enjoy last time. Im thinking about the future and how many times I will be going back to do DH or other riding in Europe.

£350 per week is a lot if I go for the next 5 years....

Love Cubes new colour schemes, shame I can't replace my Cubes frame with a new one :(

Keep an eye on Southern Downhill should be able to pick up a bargain over there.

I've just returned from my first weekend's proper mountain biking out in Wales!
We visited Afan and stayed in a nice cottage in Cymmer.
On Saturday we wanted to do the Skyline but large sections of this were shut. We settled for White's Level instead which was really good fun.
On Sunday we did The Wall which was also great fun but quite scary, some of the valleys are very steep sided and exposed. The Wall had some diversions in place as well, I guess it was hit quite badly by the weather as well.

We were thinking about doing W2L but it was marked as a black route and parts of that were shut too. I take that it's just the section in the middle that bridges White's Level and The Wall which is black?

Looking to replace my BB7's (203F/160R) with some hydros, and need some advise/help choosing

Currently looking at either the Shimano Deore M595 or SLX M665, with some superstar disc.

The cheaper M595 are suppose to be more powerful but the SLX's come with Servo-Wave which increases rotor clearance which i like the idea off (hate rotors rubbing slightly, which i have all the time with the BB7's because they need to be so close to the rotor to generate any power)

My only concern is that i've read mineral oil doesn't deal with heat very well and that sintered pads aren't recommended. This true? because What mountain bike actually recommend switching to sintered pads once the originals are dead.

Anything else in this price range i should be looking at? Want something reliable for mainly XC and some DH/AM riding. I'm 15 stone and there for a Hardtail.
