Mortal Kombat (2011)

I just looks like every other Mortal Kombat, but with better gfx and some nice special moves. Im hoping its a lot more than this though because I love MK.

I hope they dont change too much, they did MK vs DC and I thought that was terrible. Don't fix what ain't broken.

I did look at buying MK vs DC, but decided against it since a friend said it wasn't up to scratch. And as you say don't fix what aint broken :D

That said, I don't mind the odd tweak here and there to improve gameplay etc :D

The more I see of this game the more I want it. The only problem is there are far too many games coming out at the same time (march-april) and I'm not sure if I can afford to buy them all just yet. I would like to pre-order this, but I'll have to see how the cash side of things goes.

The game itself looks great from what I've seen of it. I really enjoyed the older Mk games (Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 Ultimate/Trilogy, Mk Gold), and am glad they are going back to roots with this new one and keeping it 2d (but with modern 3d graphics and backdrops). Good to see there are more Ninjas included in the game as well. Hopefully Rain, Ermac and Smoke will be in it as well, as I already know Scorpion, Sub Zero (my favorite Mk character) Reptile and Noob Saibot are in it.

Infact I have Mk2 on my Ps3 - got it ages ago for £2.99 on Psn - absolute bargain, and it gets played regally when a fellow old school gamer friend of mine visits (we also play Super Street Fighter 2 on Ps2, Mk Trilogy on Ps1, Mk Gold on Dreamcast and Tekken 6 on 360). Think I am gonna pre-order this come to think of it. The hell with it!

Has a release date been set for this yet? all i can find is Q1 of 2011 but seen as we are already part way through Q1 and no date seems to be set im guessing we wont see it in Q1.

Noob Saibot looks really awesome in that video. Potential for some awesome combos.

Any info on whether UK retailers will be getting the kollector's edition or tournament edition of this? Only see them available on US retailers at the minute :(

I didn't even know they were planning Special Editions. I see PlayAsia has the Kollectors Edition, but cant find anything on the Tournament Edition. You could try Emailing a few places and see what the have to say. I think I'm going to go for the standard Edition though. Shopto are selling it for £35 Pre-Order for the 360, quite a bargain, unless anyone knows of anywhere else selling it for cheaper?

Ok, Amazon have them both but they are from the american site so you have to pay in dollars (and don't forget the 360 versions are region locked or at least they are supposed to be). I think I'll stick with the 360 Standard Edition for 35 notes from Shopto as its a bargain at that price!

I guess I'll have to do the same, some US retailers give you a retro ninja costume aswell if you pre order from the likes of game stop or whatever bit disappointed I haven't seen that on UK retailers. I'll just unlock them in game I guess =)

Yeah, thats pretty crap that once again the Uk get the raw end of the deal. Still, for the money I paid for it I'm still pleased. I'm hoping that costume you mention will be an unlockable within the game once you reach a certain level of competence. The Ninja's have always been my favorite characters (Sub-Zero in particular has always been my favorite character right from the very first game onwards) and even though the other characters are good, in my eyes they don't compare with any Ninja.

Sub-Zero wins!

I'm sure it will be unlockable in game or via DLC. I'm a big ninja fan aswell although my favourite character is Raiden, they have definitely grown beyond the palette swaps they were once seen as.
