You did make sure you're in AHCI with the latest RST installed right?

Latest version 10.1.2.1004 here these are newer than what's officially on Intel's site, been using them for a while and no problems.

The RST should be higher performing than the built in Microsoft AHCI driver, worth a try.

I always update via device manager since I don't want the additional software.

Not everyone will be affected by that^ Mine is perfectly fine (Intel P45 Express chipset) And neither is my work workstation (Intel) or my HTPC (nVidia ION)!

Nope, it's just a DVD image file containing both X86 and X64 installers only.
