Hey guys,

i am thinking ofbuying a gaming keyboard soon butwanna use that when gaming,

Then use my current board when browsing and typing wouldthis be possible ?

say if they are both connected via USB ?

Why do you need one keyboard for gaming and one for typing?

+1
Must admit i was wondering that my self. ALL gaming keyboards ive ever tryed out works WAY above average on any other tasks you may need. Also just to confirm it will work just fine. Same with three mice. One for gaming, one for surfing and one for porn... Oh ... the seperate mouse just for porn is just me then?:(

Is there any way to have a dual monitor setup (one for gaming and one for browsing) and use a different mouse + keyboard for each one simultaneously.
So one person can be gaming while another is browsing on a seperate monitor each, using the same pc??

Ok thanks, a friend of maine just wanted to know as he plays wow and was wondering if he could run two copies of it and control each character seperately lol. Making him a two man killing machine.

Years ago you used to be able to buy a PCI add-in card where you could pretty much do such a thing.

Connected up an extra monitor, keyboard and mouse to it and you could have 2 users doing different things on 1 PC.

Not too sure how well they worked tbh, and presumably they were not very successful as you don't see them now, but that is probably as much down to the fact that PC's now are a lot cheaper then they used to be (back in the days when even a naff Packard Bell would set you back ~£1500 a ~£100 card to get a 2nd machine effectivly was a viable option)

Several years ago when I was really into my gaming and LAN's I bought a 2nd hand, old laptop (Pentium 160) purely just to run IRC on while my main machine was gaming at lans.
I still have it somewhere, its pathetically slow for web browsing, but I keep it out in the garage as a lot of car service info can be easier found on the web now then in a manual and as its so old, I don't care if it breaks or gets covered in grease.

Sort of, but it takes a while to set up. You can organise two monitors to display different X sessions, and bind a specific keyboard and mouse to each one, then prevent overlap. That's under linux though, at present I can't get windows to cope with maximise when there's two screens so hope is limited.

Nonetheless, if WoW works under linux (I've no idea), then that's a way to achieve what you're after. The two displays would be independent from one another.

you couyld use different desktops in a similar way, but that may have been taken out of the drivers now.

Something like that can be done via multiboxing if you google it lots of information about but most use a keycloning software so it sends the same info to both games need a bit of setup but seems to work well once done.
