Hi there.

Just installed my second 6950 yesterday, flashed without a hitch and OC'd nicely :)

However, MW2 and BC2 now seem a lot slower, to confirm this I tested with one card and was getting much better FPS, any clues as to why?

Thanks :)

yes, not made much difference on MW2, gpu usage is at 100% over two cards, whereas with one it was 35% all maxed out?

If I remember correctly from the CCC 11.2 thread when running Xfire you should really do a clean install of the CCC i.e uninstall then run driver cleaner then install the drivers again. Someone was benchmarking Haven and his minimum frame rate dropped right off when he updated but he done the above and the performance returned.

Tried the XFire bridge GJ, cheers, but it didn't make any difference.

Can't sweep and install drivers yet as my net has just died (damn student digs ).

However I am starting to hear a sound coming from the psu everytime I load up a game, could this be anything to do with it? I have a feeling as it's not enough for the cards as it is only 650w, the Antec TP-650 new :(

It could be that the PSU is not up to the job at those speeds? Have you tried 2 cards at stock 6950 settings and then at stock 6970 settings?

PSU will be fine, the TP New 650 can pump 640W down its 12v rails, which is plenty even for a pair of 6950s. I run a pair of 6870s and a 4.5GHz Sandy bridge from a TP650 without any problems. The noise you hear is a just a little coil whine, it's entirely normal.

Have you tried running the new card on its own? I could be faulty. Also check the Information Center / Graphics Hardware section in the CCC to make sure both cards are running at 16x PCI-e (or 8x if that's what your motherboard supports).

Both cards work fine, I tested both the HIS and the ASUS separately without a hitch. Both cards are reported to be running at x8 speeds, the limit of my board.
The noise I'm hearing isnt cap whine/squeal, I can usually tell that :) more of a clicky sound when I load both cards.

Just tried heaven, slower than one card... Will try sweeping the drivers tomorrow then reinstalling. If not then I'm getting a 750 or 850w PSU, any recommendations?

Cheers :)

When you get internet back download latest drivers then uninstall old ones reinstall new ones and make sure the xfire enable box is checked in the CCC.

Ok, I had the 11.2's already before installing the second card, already had the box ticked and confirmed in gpu-z, running at ASUS oc stock speeds, with just the shader unlock bios, still lower FPS, will definitely try driversweeper tomorrow, if not getting a new PSU :)

In that case I'm sure you need to do a proper uninstall and sweep of the dirvers and for the record I found that thread and the post in question.

See here, GJ02 goes from 10.12 to 11.2 and Haven perfromance falls away. Then in the next page he uses driver sweep and hay presto every things working!

Nope, no luck... Tried reinstalling the drivers after a sweep, but still slower than one card and the noise from the PSU is still evident, looks like I'm getting a 750w PSU then :(

Okay just done a PSU test thing on the Antec website, says the power supply is good enough... tempted to get a 700w one to make sure though, opinions?

edit:just played MW2 and BC2 with crossfire enabled and disabled, still better with disabled :(
