Drink driving.

had a 275ml bottle of beer with dinner at my mum's lastnight and drove home two hours later. i didnt die, spontaneously combust or kill any kids. ill try two next time.

My dad used to do it all the time but got caught 20ish yrs ago and banned since that time knowing he would do it again without thinking he just didnt bother getting his licence back or driving any more (was best choice for him since he likes a drink and the pub being round the corner not worth the risk)

Me i used to do it all the time and i dont mean 1 or 2 i would drink loads and drive (NEVER had a accident after drinking)

But now im a dad with 2 kids to look after i dont drink at all (also dont drive any more costs to much to park were i work)

I would NEVER do it again and wont let friends drink and drive (most wont dare do it if im there any way bad things happen to them)

I'm now 28 and have some how grown up (it snuck up on me i swear) and am not even going to think about it again

I did when I was at Uni, probably 19 years old. My car was parked in the car park near to the halls where I was meant to be staying with a friend.

After we got back from the Union I wasn't sober but not wasted either. I was meant to be staying on a friend's floor but I couldn't be assed as I wasn't drunk enough, so I said I was going to walk home.

As I left I walked straight to the car park and drove back to my student house. About a mile or so.

When I got out I realised how stupid I was and how easily I could have been caught. Never done it since, never will.

My dad's done it every night he went out since he was 16, had a car and a Job.
He's now 47 and got caught for the first time last year for having a leaking radiator on his Mazda 6.

And to show you the seriousness, he drove about 4 miles every time, and went out 4/5 times a week to the pub.
I've never done it though, and never will, although everything does seem like a good idea when you're drunk.

Sometimes if I'm going out with the lads on a night out and I'm working the next day I'll drive, we'll get there about 10 I'll have either a pint or 2 single whiskey and cokes then drink j20 the rest of the night and drive home about 1ish.

Sometimes have a pint/2 singles with lunch/dinner but again it's always like an hour before driving minimum.

Have driven to work/college/uni the morning after some pretty horrific 3am nights out and felt seriously rough and thought "you know what I feel so bad I wonder if I'd pass..." but no idea if that counts.

I'm a pretty tall lad so it usually takes 3 pints, 4-6 singles of 40% whiskey for me to start feeling anything other than normal really.

21 years old.

Dad (who was 46 when he died 3 years ago) use to regularly drive 2 miles to pub, drink a skin full and drive. He always use to park his car 2 minutes away so it looked like he walked home to anyone watching him leave the pub. Never got caught and never hit anything.

When I had a car I would never drink then drive soon after, but after a night out I used to drive back from my brothers house in the morning about 9/10. It was a heavy night but probably stopped drinking around 2ish, got up at half 9 to drive back and was pulled over because i my side window was still a bit iced up, i must have looked pretty rough because they breathalised me and even though i knew i wasn't still drunkm when he said he had to do it my heart sunk, thinking I was probably going to lose my license. Somehow I didn't fail it but still it made me a lot more careful about driving after a heavy night!

I'll have 1 pint on lunch breaks then immediately drive sometimes. I don't see a problem with that. If I know I will be in a pub for a few hours and especially if I am having food i'll have 2 pints max. I know not many will agree with it, but I've been using this method all my life and have never had a problem. I got pulled over and breathalised having done option 2 above hours after drinking and showed as having had a drink but under the limit so I took that as a go ahead to keep doing it. I don't do it to always push the boundaries of the law. I do it because I have control and sometimes fancy a pint when I am out and am the driver.
I have never driven having had 3 pints or more.
I couldn't tell you the actual legal limit today officially. I just know the above has always worked and continues to for me.

Off topic: Are those personal breathalyzer things you see advertised in the car mags any good? I don't drive the day after a heavy night, but I'd be intrigued to actually see how long it takes to get out of your system.

Iv got one of those Sterling Moss things and it dosent work, i can knock in a 1/4 bottle of scotch and still be good to go according to that thing.

I did a couple of times when I was younger (10-11 years ago) - but by that I mean 2-3 pints or so, though I don't do it any more, and wouldn't. However, I do occasionally have a glass of wine with a big dinner, but drive a couple of hours later. I don't consider that drink driving, I can guarantee that the alcohol will be fully metabolised. :)

Never.

When my Grandad was a kid however everyone did, speed limits were..well, what speed limits? and he admitted to flying straight over a roundabout...literally straight over while steaming.

Drove a drunker mates car a few times when i was 14 or so, was definetly not a good idea. Have driven about 3 miles once with 4 pints in me since i got my license.. over a decade ago though. Never again. Most i ever do and its rare, is 1 pint + food and waiting about an hour sipping on coke.

a friend of mine, and i, cleared away at least two thirds of a bottle of whisky lastnight. GF was there to ferry me home and although i felt almost perfect this morning the drive in felt just like any other day. would love to know what id be blowing on a breathalyser today as in theory i expect im miles over the limit but feel normal.
