Jeans

So I'd rather pay £40 for something which are meant to be better quality.

this- people keep banging on here how a £20 pair of jeans is just as good as a £40+ pair, and its just rubbish... Theres a huge ammount of difference in the quality of fit, quality of stitching and the material itself. The most i've paid for a pair of jeans is possibly pushing on £70, which isn't insane, because i wear them every single day of my life... aswell as this there is also a disernable increase in quality even above this price bracket, aka when you get into armarni jeans etc...

Who would actually pay £100 for a pair of jeans anyways...? There is little difference between ones that cost £20 apart from a label.

thats rubbish imo

-- aswell as the increase in quality, it's also the huge range of fits that a higher end denim label offer, i can go into the Levi stor in brum and try on 4 pairs of jeans before i find one thats right and fits perfectly....

Some good offers on that site, love The Republic, was going to splash some cash but the add to basket seems to be broken (add one item move onto the next and the first item get removes from my basket) :(

No comment on the prices but I'd consider you fairly lucky if you can just go into a shop and find a pair of jeans that fit you easily, I've started just buying off the internet as most places on the high street don't have anything comfortable.

SizeUK is an organisation owned by many of the biggest retailers.
You can see who they are at the following link.
http://www.sizemic.eu/products-and-services/size-survey-data.html

The last major survey was published by them in 2004. The average mens size at that point was 37". As obesity is on the increase it is reasonable to assume the average is slightly above that now. You can see the data at the following link.
http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/docs/sizeuk_analysis.pdf

Whilst the actual waist average may be 37-38" I doubt actual jean size will be, most are vanity sized.

I did see a comparison of mens jeans but this will have to do for now.

So 38" jeans are probably fine for people up to 41-42".

Well that's completely untrue if you know what you're buying.

I'm looking for dark wash straight leg, these look ok?

thanks. I lost all faith in myself buying jeans since I accidentally bought some skinnies! I'm only a 32 waist so you'd think they might just be ok but I couldn't get my bloody calves into them even.

Picked up a hoody and one of the soulcal polos as well, can't hurt to have some daywear.

river island jeans are awesomely comfy. sod brands!

River Island themselves are a fashion label ;)

Just considered to be a high street fashion label that's all.

Site seems to be useless, doesn't want to load anything up. I ordered my stuff using my iPhone as I couldn't get IE or G Chrome to work. Not sure about firefox or the actual safari web browser though.

I just bought some stuff via Firefox. Couple of pairs of jeans I was in dire need of and a nice jacket. There is a republic in town so it shouldn't be too bad if something doesn't fit properly, I can just return it. Good heads up, thanks.

I can agree that an increase in quality might be so but I'm just wondering how much more quality you'll get at a price compared to £20 ones. I've had the ones I'm wearing for over a year and they've not torn, faded from when I purchased them but that could be down to how they're washed.

Also my jeans fit me perfectly, 34 waist with 1-2 inches if I pull at the front, no need for a belt and they're not sagging over my arse. I dunno maybe 1/2 an inch w/o belt sag.

Have gone through many a mosh pits so comfort isn't an issue and really...how much more comfort do you get from your £50 jeans then my £20 jeans?

Unless they feel like they're giving you a blowy then its not worth the price difference.

Agreed. In my experience, people who harp on about how cheap goods are 'just as good' as expensive goods are, generally, not in a position to be able to afford the expensive goods.

I can afford the higher priced jeans but feel my money is better spent elsewhere. Shirts, hoodies, jumpers etc are very different in look compared to jeans which realistically all look quite similar to be honest.

Nobody I know points out my jeans, infact rarely probably rarely look at them. They see them as jeans and are not fussed about the brand and the quality upon glancing.

Well that's completely untrue if you know what you're buying.

I know what I am buying because I shop for them in the store, I feel the material. I don't try them on, however I check the waist, length and that's good enough for me. If you shop online..how do you know what you're buying will fit? Details like I read them in store.

Maybe it's because I am not on a salary equal to the quoted, but I can afford them. Maybe I should buy a higher priced pair...I don't know. Maybe I'm not as self-consious as you lot but I don't know you. My jeans are fine and I have no problem with them so that is all

Well a set of £20 jeans from H&M/TopShop or wherever just won't be the same quality as a pair of 18Oz raw selvedge denim from a company like APC, April 77, Samurai, Naked & Famous and so on.

They just aren't, it has nothing to do with shopping online.
