Wow well I've learned a hell of a lot more today than I expected at the beginning. I have my two samples and will do some photos tomorrow evening when I get back from cycling.
Have we come to a consensus as to whether a sample of the sediment or a suspension should be taken for testing. I think perhaps both just to cover all bases.
Where can I get 95% alcohol from? Pharmacist?

There is no harm in doing both as neither way is really wrong, it just depends on which method produces easily visible results (and if you actually get 3ml of sediment, if not I suppose you can scale down your measurements accordingly).
Yes you can buy Isopropyl Alcohol from a pharmacy the last time I checked.

edit: Gandhi for example drank a small glass (ie. first emission) of his own urine most days, and I don't think anything less of the man in fact I feel somewhat closer as a result of this thread

I'm more inclined to say that it's an inorganic product, such as salt, precipitating out of the urine. It could be similar to a saturated solution, where at body temperature when the urine comes out, all of it is dissolved in solution, but upon cooling, precipitates out into solution.
Might be a good idea to investigate this too, possibly by getting a fresh sample, and cooling it down from body temperature to room temperature and observing the physical changes.

Interesting thread is interesting; posting to subscribe. All the nay-sayers need to find their caves tbh. What's wrong with this type of inquisitiveness? Hell I've been doing weird stuff like this since I could walk.

i often pee in a bottle while im away working! sleeping in a camper for a good few weeks at a time its much easier waking up and doing that rather than getting dressed out into the cold walking across the site to find the toilet! then empty it in the morning

Quick update before I go out riding.
No change in the samples. Last time it took about a day to begin to separate then another couple of days to fully settle.

No. Get six bottles of Irn Bru, drink one and fill the empty with your liquid waste. Shuffle them up, tie a bandana around your head at arrange for you and a mate to be psycologically tortured by your nearest vietcong.
