According to that news story. Microsoft are now hiring a team to come up with a next gen console. If I was a betting man, I'd say Christmas 2015 at the very latest. So what do you want to see in this next gen console?

Bluray inclusion?
Focus on motion controls?

If that's true I'm amazed they haven't started work already.

Motion controls are a gimmick IMO. Although I realise they are now a massive market, I hope the console isn't designed solely for them.

All each generation boils down to is graphics capabilities really. With this in mind it'd mean larger textures and maps, which in turn would require the use of Bluray for the extra storage. Whether Sony would even be willing to license this to Microsoft I don't know, and if they were I can image the licensing costs now.

The ability to run two screens from one xbox, split screen gaming is for the poor.

I'd also like this one to run hot enough to heat my whole house and the water supply instead of just my bedroom.

tbh i dont think it will be a new one. theyre gonna wanna milk the xbox 360 so a new revision will be done. will start designing for new console in 2012

More RAM than they think is needed, every time it comes down to lack of memory a few years in. Think ahead!

Now is the time that the current gen is really showing its limitations with certain games, BF3 coming to mind as only 24 players compared to the PC's 64.

Ability to use standard 2.5" laptop drives as upgrades. Without ****ing around and having to create lots of partitions or using dodgy software.

The 'slim' is pretty damn quiet. Equal to and possibly quieter than my 40Gb Phat PS3.

I'd like to see games being at least 720p with AA and AF.

We need competition within console market not a Monopoly so they can charge whatever they want for a universal platform.

Exactly, the more competition the better. If another major player hit the market, you can guarantee we would see bigger better games sooner.

But we won't, there is no space for anyone else.

They start designing the next console the second the previous one has been finalised. The next XBox has been on the back burner since 2005.

To be perfectly honest, I'd be happiest if they simply designed something that didn't have such a disasterous breakdown record.

I think we'll be done with optical media by the time we get the new consoles, pretty sure the next xbox will heavily depend on a more advanced version of kinect as well.
