March in London on the 26th?

Government ties is why the Government lies, read it yourself instead of asking the Government why :)

I don't want to be drawn in to a tit for tat argument about politics and privatisation ect :)

I just made this to ask if anyone else was attending.

I do spend my days playing football and pokemon ;) :p

I don't understand the first line. And surely when you made this thread you expected reactions?

Anyone else going? :)

Edited, It's for the Union march against cuts.

No and I'll bet a whole lot of money on you not having any clue as to the state of debt this country is in.

So if you don't believe in public spending cuts, then how else should this countries debt be tackled?

What's would you do if you were in power? How long would your plan take to reduce this countries deficit?

If you don't have any realistic ideas as to the above, then you shouldn't be going either.

Ironic that you're against public spending cuts, but you're willing to attend an event that will require police presence and as a result, will be wasting police resources and tax payers money.

I only hope the police will be heavy handed, might knock some sense into the idiots that attend. :)

I can tell from Tummy's overuse of smiley faces that he's either trolling or trying to get a reaction out of people.

I bet you aren't even going. ;)

haha! No I am going, I'd rather not turn this in to a political debate, I don't agree with the level of cuts that's all. Start up a thread about the cuts if people want to argue over that.

I was just wondering as this is a Union march (or I'm going as part of this) that would other people on here be going?

Well, you've ignored some good questions, namely this one -

So if you don't believe in public spending cuts, then how else should this countries debt be tackled?

Tummy you are going to face a lot of hassle over this :p

When the recent student protests were on, I was criticised for not being able to come up with a complete governmental budget that suited my ideals, which is a bit of a daft request. You don't need to write a thesis to be eligible for protesting against something you feel is wrong, especially when it's a concept as simple as 'you are reducing the budget by too much in sector x'.

Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with controlled debt at a national level, all countries have huge levels of debt, the issue is making sure that debt is not too high, which for us it currently is. So the question is not whether cuts should be made at all, but in what areas the cuts should be made and to what extent. IF the OP feels that the cuts are too severe, then by all means he should protest.

If you want to oppose him, then you should try and justify why the cuts need to made quite so severely.

Personally, I appreciate that the public sector does need to be tightened up but I appreciate it's hitting many quite hard, so I can see why people are questioning just how much public sector jobs are going, at least over such a short period.

The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you'll run out of other people's money.

Anybody disagreeing with the fundamental principle of cutting current levels of public expenditure, quite bluntly, is divorced from reality. This is not an issue of partisanship; Left and Right are wholly irrelevant. It isn't even a matter of economics, it's basic mathematics.

Please, lefties, remove your heads from your rectal passages and take the time to look what history shows of the success rates of socialism, marxism, communism and the rest of that idealised tripe.

I've said I'd rather not turn this in to a political argument thread of sorts :p

I haven't said I don't agree with the cuts. I just don't agree with the extent of the cuts. I think that the cuts at this level could send the country backwards to be perfectly honest.

I'm not a fan of the Tory's. I think these cuts were always going to happen, country in debt or not, and I dislike the privatisation of some public services.

As I'm not running the country, I don't have to supply you with a Governmental budget? I'd certainly surround myself with the best people I could though.

I kind of thought I'd get stick for posting this, I just didn't want this to turn in to a bickering name calling type of political thread. I was just wondering if others were going.

lolwut? And besides, it isn't a political argument. One method is correct, the other is wrong. Partisanship is an irrelevancy that sells newspapers.

A blaring logical fallacy. High public expenditure requires high taxation on the private sector. The public sector is WHOLLY dependent upon the private sector, it does not have a profit incentive and is inefficient and largely unnecessary. This is basic flipping economics that is ignored by left-wing politicians to pursue policies of low unemployment levels that are irrelevant without context.

I think these cuts were always going to happen, country in debt or not, and I dislike the privatisation of some public services.

I assume there is a 'lol jk' coming? The cuts would not have come if Labour had won another term of office. The public, largely speaking, wanted cuts and Labour then had to rewrite their message to start advocating cuts, just to a lesser extent to canvass their many many supporters who fill pointless public sector roles.

So without cuts, how are we going to stop spending more than we have?

If the solution to the financial crisis is to avoid cuts why are those in charge not taking that option?

Oh, yeah they're all greedy ****s and Labour would never have done this! They're such a great party, look at the amazing state they left the country in!
