March in London on the 26th?

You don't make an economy grow by cutting anyway, at best that slightly improves how much money you have in the very short term (which isn't even happening) while completely ****ing everything up later on. You invest in it. Cut public services and less people have jobs, almost everybody has less money and so it's not spent. An economy where people don't spend money is bound to fail.

Not that not cutting is the solution, any Capitalist market will, sooner or later, destroy itself.

Diamond, i fail to see what relevance that holds? Besides, this isn't a 'normal society'. If you were born into a world made of purple jelly you'd probably think that was 'normal' too.

Invest what though? There is no money spare to invest.

We shouldn't invest now, we should have been doing it all along.

Now it's a case of harsh cuts to get us back on track - everyone is going to suffer but in the long-term we should be alright.

You're basically just saying keep doing what the previous government did; spend, spend, spend - look where that got us.

Is this yet another dig at my ever increasing depression due to the horrific form of Sheffield Wednesday? :p

It's gotten to the point where I'd rather march against the Tories then watch Sheffield Wednesday haha

Haha nope it's Wales - England that day!

Please, enlighten us - how does cutting everything in an economy make it grow?

Because the government can only spend money it has taken from the people by taxation or that it has borrowed? Because any extra money spent above tax revenue will be a loan which we have to pay back plus interest? The public sector does not generate growth!

BTW I genuinely would be interested in a new thread about your thoughts on a future society based upon your ideals.

I thought it was a march against cuts?

Some misguided nitwits think it is to bring about their revolution.

Introducing REVOLUTION

Revolution is an international socialist youth organisation. We are a group of young activists who are fed up with unemployment, war, poverty, cuts and capitalism. We want to bring down Cam and Clegg's millionaire coalition and replace it with socialism. The rich and powerful clique responsible for breaking up our public services, slashing benefits and leaving millions of us on the dole will not give up their wealth and property by being voted out. They are launching a class war to make youth and workers pay the cost of capitalism's crisis. We want to seize their assets and abolish class society with a socialist revolution. This is what we are fighting for.

They know where they can stick their class war. :p

Aye I'm going.

Doesn't surprise me at all, I was waiting for your name to appear.

It's always nice to see some people so absolutely bonkers that they just don't care. People immune from the churlish and puritanical preachings of nameless, faceless suits who haven't contributed a damn thing to humanity.

Looks like you've thoroughly familiarised yourself with the subject matter as much as the rest of the leftie idiots. Stick it to the man!

Students do love to protest. They were doing it before I was at uni, while I was at uni, and after. I even remember a friend of mine once angrily saying, "I just want to protest... against something, I don't know what, but something."

Get it off your chests and the taxpayer will clear it all up for you. As usual.

the only growth the government can invest in is the public sector! eg hospitals, schools etc etc. the state has become too large and we just cannot afford it. these cuts will restore the balance needed to bring the private sector back to scratch. right now the public sector is bigger than the private sector which is ridiculous

No and I'll bet a whole lot of money on you not having any clue as to the state of debt this country is in.

So if you don't believe in public spending cuts, then how else should this countries debt be tackled?

What's would you do if you were in power? How long would your plan take to reduce this countries deficit?

If you don't have any realistic ideas as to the above, then you shouldn't be going either.

Well if people had bothered reading http://marchforthealternative.org.uk/why-were-marching/ they'd have read the alternatives for reducing the deficit put forward. The government would dearly love you all to believe that theirs is the only way, and unsurprisingly the little-Thatchers on this forum have fallen for it. The reality is quite different, which is why we'll see tax breaks in the budget - if things were as bad as government dogma suggests, we wouldn't be able to afford those now would we?

I only hope the police will be heavy handed, might knock some sense into the idiots that attend. :)

Wow, hoping that people exercising their right to protest get a beating from the police - what a nice bunch of people we have on this forum. It wouldn't surprise me if there were a lot of off duty policemen protesting - they are looking down the barrel of massive pay cuts after all as the police are an "enemy of enterprise" according to Cameron.

Water cannon first, see if that disperses them before moving onto more drastic measures :)

Gas the time wasting idiots.

Is there an anti-march march? It'd be 'nice' to see the snot smashed out of the idiots that cause damage to the area they 'protest' in.
