Hey All,

Ok my misses has been given one of the two options in work...

1. Lease car, upto the value of £570 a month, this includes wear and tear, servicing, MOT, insurance for me and the misses... we get a discount from a preferred lease car supplier as well...

2. Just take the £570 a month... which includes nothing

Now I'm thinking that we go with number 1 but she aint so sure, something about not owning the car and not having anything after 3 year lease.... I would like your opinion, and also what car you would think about getting?

Cheers,

Stelly

Take the £570 and get a lease car, you can get a very nice one for a lot less than £500, check out lings

We dont have to spend the 570 a month on the car with option 1 I think we also spend less and get the rest in her pay packet...

Option 2 does not include insurance....

option 2, then at least you own something

that's what I have always done for the last hundred years, that said I can also subscribe to the lease and forget scenario.

Are there any restrictions on how you use the £570? Does it have to be fairly new or anything like that?

simple questions.

1. Does she need a new car or does she already own a perfectly good one?
If yes then take the money as you don't need to spend anything
2. Does she do a huge milage for work?
If no take the cash as you can get a perfectly decent reliable car for much less

Personally I'd always take the cash if there is a choice, byt then I'm happy to drive round in an average older car.

really crud website, I fell asleep using dreamweaver and crafted an arguably better looking website with my dreamstate convulsions

TBH I think its awesome, it doesn't look very "professional" but it damn sure gets all the important information over and ive never seen a "professional" looking site do it as well.

Don't forget that the extra £570 a month will be liable for Income Tax and National Insurance Tax contributions as well... That'll cost you at least 32%if she earns less than £42475 (including the £570*12=£6840 raise), and up to 42% if she earns more than that. So somewhere between £570*0.68=£387.60 and £570*0.58=£330.60.

How many miles does she do?

What sort of car would you get in scenario 1? Add the BIK monthly costs of that car to £570 (less tax), and you have your budget including running costs for scenario 2.

I have a back problem and wanted a car with a particular seat squab height range to easy entry and exit. I test drove the Kia Soul, Nissan Note and C3 Picasso.

The Soul is a dog in every way. In the end we went for the C3 Picasso Exclusive but the top end Notes weren't bad either.

If your missus really likes the Soul for heavens sake get her to take a test drive in one first. I'm sure it will change her mind.

Nowhere near enough info to answer that question.

All I would add at the moment is that your Mrs. needs to ask herself how much value she places on not having to worry about the hassle of MOT, tyres, breakdowns, servicing etc.

Personally I always take the allowance, but then all my jobs are fairly close to home.
