AVG PC Tune Up

Stick with CCleaner mate. Any 'Tune Up' utilities tend to be more trouble than they're worth in my experience and can cause any number of problems.

I like CCleaner and Tune up Utilities, I doubt AVG tune up is your best bet as software like Tune Up Utilities specialises in tune up software and has been going for a lot longer !

The sad truth is, a lot of these so called tune up tools use registry tweaks from the XP days that have zero effect in Vista or 7. Registry cleaning is equally pointless, as there is zero performance gain to be had.

Any effects you see from running such a piece of junk is all placebo. I call for CCleaner ditch its registry cleaning functions.

No they are not bad ass. Theres no point in using them, most of them don't do as they say they do.

Tune up utilities is simple and effective, saves going thro services, policies, advanced system settings . . . I haven't got the time to do each task manually.

LOL!! Windows 7 does not need tweaking except when you install a SSD and even then it takes 2 minutes to manually apply said tweaks.

Wait until one of these 'tune up' utilities bricks your Windows install and then you will know the score ;)

Windows 7 requires no services to be disabled. Anything not actively doing anything uses almost no resources. As for advanced system settings, there is a dedicated UI for that. Though I can't think of anything that would increase performance, other than turning off Aero features. Not really an issue on any vaguely decent PC.

iDroid, judging by his posting history, is an IT admin and looks after thousands of machines. I only look after hundreds :(.

I'm confused, my post has disapeared? :( I think it's been edited!

Anyway, yes, I am 26, work full time and I have done since I was 16. Never been on the dole and have no intention to go onto it either.

PS Windows 7 needs no tune up utilites at all..... trust me and probably 99% of users on this forum.

Thread cleaned.

Stop with the petty insults please everyone, this especially applies to you, Jakeee. There is simply no need for it here and it will not be tolerated. Thank you.

Ignoring the aspect that I don't have a clue what they are really doing when you press that 'Tune your system' button, or what ever it may be called, there is no benefit from a performance perspective of doing things like disabling services. With the exception of the things mentioned below, I don't do anything like disable any services and my system runs perfectly.

The things that are potentially worth tinkering with are things like system restore, data execution prevention, the paging file in certain circumstances etc.. Though, that's not due to a performance point of view, but so you can free up a little bit of disk space, gain an added bit of security and so on.

You really don't need applications like this, something like CCleaner will clear the temp files and is free.

Well said. Totally agree with you from all areas. :)

Hahahahahaha All I asked was "Anyone used this? I normally use CCleaner as a quick one click cleaner."

So that's suggests I use it as a cleaner - And not for PC Tuning/Tweaking or what ever you want to call it.
