Lots of Steam vouchers on the bay too - can be an equally cheap way to get the game and not have to wait :)

Not due to cheaper but i have cash that i'm not too fussed on lodging + its 16gig download so either way i'll have it tommorrow at any rate and might download AC BH tonight.
Dat Chessboard, want.

Well, just like the first Shogun I utterly suck at this game.
Enjoying it though.

Started off as the same clan in the tutorial. (The ones that start on the little island).
Controlled the entire island quickly and started building up and creating an army to invade the main land.
Soon I had food shortages and rebellions, I couldn't seem to get enough food no matter what I did.
Sent force to mainland and as I did a rebellion started in my capital and another province came under attack by another clan.
lost 3 of my 5 provinces in 2 turns.
Lost the 4th a few turns later.

Now lost my last one as I couldn't rebuild any sort of defence.

*sigh*

Still fun though.

Sounds like you increased your castle sizes without increasing your food enough (i.e. rice farming improvements and arts).

Don't worry you are doing better than me, I started as the same clan (Chanosuke or something) and just got ruined attacking a castle for my 3rd province. They just had a single terrace but a full general card of units. Even after thinning their ranks with arrow barrages climbing the walls was deadly. Might have to try laying siege or something

No problems, No slow downs, Maxium settings. Another great total war.

My 280gtx is fine with everything turned up!

I don't think it is related to my card. I can look at a unit of men and get, say 28 FPS. If i then turn off DOF,SSAO and turn the resolution down from 1920x1080 to 1024x768 the framerate will stay EXACTLY the same.
I've noticed some games have this problem where if you lower the graphics settings midgame, the visual will be worse but its still running the same proccesses and thus carries on performing the same.

Not resolution though...

Anyway, i have tried it both whilst in game, and at the main menu options so it isnt that.

It is seriously CPU bottlenecked.

Making me tempted to get an i5 sandybridge set up and clock it to hell and back.

lol playing as Date on hard, the year is 1565 and I only own 5 provinces, but i don't see how I could own any more at this point. The AI (hojo & takeda) have just been relentless in attacking me (often with 1 full stack and 1 half stack armies together - only for another full stack to come from the other side/clan immediately after) so I've pretty much dug in at the 5th province, defending from my castle, acting like a chokepoint, and building up my economy through Chi arts and farming research. Now building up a second army to move into Hojo territory, whilst my lesser army defends the 5th province castle in case takeda decide to break the peace treaty I agreed to, and attack from the other side.

The curve between 'normal' and 'hard' is ridiculous :D

Started as shimazu on normal. Ito clan were wiped out after I took osumi (shoni did most of the work). However the shoni control 7/8 provinces surrounding me so arranged a marriage to avoid an attack so I can strengthen as I only control 2 provinces atm after 5 years. Really enjoying it so far seems suprisingly polished for a total war game :)

Gah I caved and bought it. There goes my 2nd year..

I was tempted too, but then I realised that the mobos alone are over £100

Edit: My game included an activation code for the limited DLC  Sweet
