Just purchased a MSI HD 5770 for my asus m3a770de mobo and phenom II be 10907 3.2ghz pc. Now i have done the noobish thing and just ran the auto tune program that came on the driver disk. According to what it is telling me i can overclock it to gpu - 950 mhz clock and memory - 1425 clock . Is this worth doing or can someone give me the name of a card it would be close too?.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I've got a 5770 on Win 7 64 bit and auto-tune works fine, gets my core to 950 too, though windows crashes at even a 5mhz overclock on the mem.

EDIT: cigardens, how did you get afterburner to overclock past 960 core?

Managed to get 1ghz on my CuCore 5770, Can't remember what I got the RAM too but it was fairly high. However if memory serves, there's a sweet spot with regards to overclocking with these. Basically if you go too far you'll actually get less performance as when the RAM goes unstable it wont error just degrade your performance somehow. I'm sure somebody else will be able to explain why in better detail.

Close Afterburner, locate the folder you installed it in, open MSIAfterburner.cfg in notepad and go right down to the bottom and find UnofficialOverclockingEULA =

Add this after the equals sign...

I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it

Also make sure you have the following line below that entry UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1

Save the file and start Afterburner. You should now be able to increase the core and mem clocks a lot higher than before.

That first bit might seem overkill but that is the only way to enable it, see here for proof...
