Anyone else hate eating at restaurants?

I love going out to eat, and I have to say I've never noticed anyone watching me. Surely most people are busy eating their own food, and chatting to whoever they are with to be worried about someone on the next table.

Theres no obligation to tip. If someone goes out of their way to help you, or goes the extra mile then sure I'll tip. If someone just does the job however I wouldn't tip.

Value for money is a funny thing. I think my local Harvester is fantastic value for money. It's simple food, cooked well, with good service at a reasonable price. Yet I also think Switch at the Encore hotel in Las Vegas was excellant value for money. We came away from our meal completely satisfied, yet the bill was something like £450.00 just for my wife and I.

I didn't enjoy eating out at all until I started going at more "off peak" times, much better if the places are not packed full and overly loud.

my main gripe now is vegetarian menus, the majority of places have menus full of meats with only 1 or 2 vegetarians items added :(

I don't really like eating in public and that is why I don't really enjoy going out to a restaurant as well.
Some people go out just to talk to their partner/wife, you can talk at your own table by the way.

Does anyone else think eating at restaurants is over-rated? I don't know anyone who doesn't love it. I hate having to pretend I'm enjoying myself when I'm obliged to go out to eat.

  • I don't like strangers watching me eat.
  • I don't like watching strangers eat, especially fat ones.
  • Food is over-rated, I mostly want to fill my belly I don't really care what it tastes like as long as it's healthy. I don't like the idea of eating for entertainment.
  • I don't like spending a lot of money on something that I'm just going to poop out.
  • I don't like having to tip people just for doing their job.
  • They usually give you too much food and it gets wasted.
  • It's usually too loud, too dark, or too crowded.

Oh yeah and here everything is horribly over-seasoned and over salted to appease these diabetic land whale's diminished sense of taste from years of masturbatory gustation.

Restaurants are basically brothells where they **** off your taste buds. I want no part of it.

So you went some dark crowded place.
Some big fat dude has fed you a sausage.
You forced a smile and paid him for leaving that salty taste in your mouth.
You say people were watching too ?

Is this the place that George Micheal was arrested by any chance ?

Didn't read past this, irony overload.

Aka. you dont know how to reply so posted some more rubbish instead.

Why are you getting worked up over something so silly? Chill out.

You like kwerk and value him as a member of this forum do you? Good for you!

Most people dont.

  • I don't like strangers watching me eat. They're not.
  • I don't like watching strangers eat, especially fat ones. Then don't.
  • Food is over-rated, I mostly want to fill my belly I don't really care what it tastes like as long as it's healthy. I don't like the idea of eating for entertainment. - Then why do you care?
  • I don't like spending a lot of money on something that I'm just going to poop out. See above.
  • I don't like having to tip people just for doing their job. You don't 'have' to.
  • They usually give you too much food and it gets wasted. You've just contradicted yourself.
  • It's usually too loud, too dark, or too crowded. Yawn...

I presume when people say 'going out' in that context they mean going to bars/clubs to and drinking watered down rat's wee and/or paint stripper.

ITT: shock that computer nerds are socially awkward.

I'd say that the thread proves otherwise.

Explain. Eating out is going out isn't it?

How can you prefer eating out to eating out?;)

:(

I'll answer it though!

I think in Norwegian so there you say that you are either going out (clubbing/drinking/etc) or eating out.
You would never say I'm going out to eat. Probably makes zero sense when said in English haha.

Going out = meal/local pub or somewhere you don't necessarily have to get dressed up for.

Going out out = town centre pub/club or somewhere that won't necessarily let you in unless you're wearing shoes or a shirt.

Not really.

And when did I say I like kwerk?

The irony comes in when I object that most people don't read what kwerk is actually saying and proceed to unduly insult him, and you say that I am not reading what he is saying (tell you what, why don't you quote what he wrote in the original post that is so offensive). I quoted what he posted and nothing seems to be inflammatory or insulting to anyone here.

And rather than actually confront what I am saying, you then go the 'I am wound up' (?) and am 'terrified of having an opinion' (what?) route. Keep in mind that I was talking about ad hominem attacks before and the irony should eventually hit you.

Or not, given how you've come across so far.

I am still shocked that someone said good food is over rated. Decent enjoyable food is one of the greater pleasures in life.

You might be referring to my post, I didn't say good food is over-rated, I love good food and have plenty of it at home, but eating out is over-rated imo and I don't particuarly enjoy it! What's so shocking about that? If you enjoy it then great! I have no problem with that at all.

But what I do have a problem with, is like many people on here, you seem to be very egotistical and therefore fail to understand that we're all individuals with our own unique likes and dislikes? Some people would rather eat at home! Shock horror!

Well, kwerk very often makes silly threads, have a look at his 'thread started' history.

This thread makes him look like, yet again, a whining recluse.

You disagree? Fine. What is the problem?

You've made yourself upset over something and you dont even know what it is :p
