First test / review: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2

I want them to be available soon in 265 35 R18 and 235 40 R18. I can sense I am due new tyres (as I seem to be every ten seconds), and the idea of a high performance tyre that offers better fuel economy is interesting to me. If I can get from 26 MPG to 28 MPG with these, it won't be far off the same as a £1,000 pay rise.

I'm currently running on 26.4 MPG as my overall average. It's an improvement on my earlier 24.5 MPG, but it is requiring careful acceleration. I do about 90% motorway work from a total of ~700 miles per week. Low MPG hurtz :'(

EDIT: Crashing in to the back of the car in front because my tyres are rubbish hurtz more.

Just seen these for 140 in 225/40/18. Think I may grab a pair today.

If I can get my 68mpg motorway up to 70 ill be happy :p haha

They are only £129.13 each fitted from any HiQ centre if you buy online. Goodyear own the HiQ centres and seem to be the only ones with stock in my size 245/40-18. I'm going to get 4 fitted this week.

Thanks, saved me some money and they have a centre not far from me at all :)

I have had some fitted from Blackcircles. £110 each in 225/45/17. Very impressed so far. They replaced CS3's.

Good to hear, this will be replacing CS3's on the front (which will be moved over to the back of the car).

I'll let you know if I get them. They are going to phone me back if they can source any as the have no stock at the moment. I paid for them then they phoned me to offer me some Dunlops instead. Conti have no tyres in my size either, so I guess they have stopped making the CS3 now and haven't produced many CS5s yet. I have a month before MOT time but need something before then.

Did you get it sorted?

I've got mine and to be honest. The straight line grip is at least as good as the CS3's but the road noise is a lot less noticable to me. Not really a 'throw it round the corners' car so I can't really comment on handling too much.

On HEAVY breaking the car seems to wander a bit... not sure if its the new tyres though...

No still haven't got new tyres yet. The car passed the MOT and the SC3s still aren't on the limit yet so I have time to wait(they have had about 2-2.5mm on the inside 1/4 of the tyre for a while now). I'm still tempted by the SC5s as I get good wear out of the 3s and the 5s offer more performance and last longer. They are still unavailable though in my size. The Asymmetric 2 is now available in my size so if the SC5 isn't available when I need them I'll put them on.

Keep me updated how your getting on as I'm interested to know.

www.mytyres.co.uk has them for £95.80 (plus fitting) so that's about the same price, as most places will charge around £10 per wheel.
I just bought myself a pair in that size as they seem to be on special at the moment, thereby making them a smidgen cheaper than CS3s.

Anymore thoughts on this now?

Ideally I'm after information on sidewall stiffness. I need 4 new tyres and the S001s are great in the dry due to the response.

Thanks
Simon

Seem to be bedding in well. Not dissapointed yet.

No idea about the sidewall stiffness. Not really noticed any difference between them and the CS3's in terms of turn-in but then on a 1600kg car how much difference is it going to make, so perhaps thats why.
