What would your own son have to do for you to grass him up?

We all know that having a criminal record really is a pretty big deal .. it can certainly stop you getting jobs, also (depending on the crime) it can stop you holidaying in certain destinations.

Theoretical question

Your son is 18 years old. You discover he has committed a crime. What is the 'least bad' crime, for which you WOULD dob him into the cops - potentially resulting in him having a criminal record and setting up another barrier for him to overcome if he is to make a success of himself?

Me = I think GBH. Anything less such as ABH, shoplifting, etc .. I wouldn't want him getting a record with the associated grief ..

Anything as petty as theft of a schoolmates pencil case.

Teach em young :)

Seriously though, anything, no tolerance towards crime. And to be honest. Most of the time the police won't do anything if it's not serious and just take details. Will put fear in the kid though!

Did me when I was a kid and stole some milk from a house across the road!

Never felt so scared! Dad dragged me down saying they would lock me up for at least 10 years! Learnt my lesson and cut the houses grass after I was forced to apologise to the house owners lol.

Was about 8 years old, police man took me around and showed me the cells and I distinctly remember him saying as he opened a empty cell door "We only feed you if you have been good"

Oops! Misread the thread title!

I wouldn't grass on my own tbh. Grew up with a massive extended family of Italians. They're not keen on that kind of behaviour, though if they did find any of us breaking the law as kids we were in for some serious Victorian-style discipline!

For minor crimes i would just chain him to the bathroom radiator for a few weeks, administering hourly beating and the like, then brand him with a cartoon depicting the nature of the crime, as a reminder for life. That'll learn him.

Major crimes though id haul his ass down to the local plod and turn him in.

If I thought the crime was serious enough to call the cops about if it happened to me then I would probably do the same, although that being said if it was something that I thought wasn't entirely their fault or was something that bringing the cops into won't resolve anything then I would initiate some at home discipline!!

For minor crimes I’d stick his head down the toilet a few times and flush it. If it was serious I’d get him seen to.

I don't know and I suspect I wouldnt know unless I was in that position.

Amusing to see those saying 'Wouldnt ever grass'.

So if your son rapes and murders a girl you 'wouldnt grass'?

Pretty much anything that involves women & kids, Other things like theft/vandalism/fighting etc He would have me to deal with & I was a very strict parent, No way is any kid I have anything to do with going to end up like me.

Nothing. Besides the fact that my Son was raised correctly in the first place, loyalty to family is paramount, especially to me who has never really had one.

He is my flesh and blood. I would deal with it myself.

Could never grass my son up, and I got 4 of us, and if they did anything illegal or a serious crime, I may distance myself from them and make them learn from their own mistakes, but I wouldnt want to be linked to the reason they have no future...We all make mistakes, and we all learn from them...

Anything such as Murder would be a different story. Straight to the police!

I don't have a son.

I'd grass up one of my daughters if they'd committed anything that resulted in actual harm or loss to another person.
