Well, to be fair we did in Kosovo and Sierra Leone, and they didn't seem to have anything we needed.

So why those two places, Libya, and not the others ?

Dunno.

I'd sooner we went to none of them.

Well to be fair, "we" let Kosovo and Sierra Leone really go to the dogs for many many years before we did anything.

But lets not let that stop us from making inaccurate comparisons.

The rebels have been fighting and taking control of lost ground for the past few days.

Good yo hear. Glad they arnt waisting the oppitunity the been given.

They have mainly been focusing on the air strikes in the news down here and from what i can find on the interwebs.

Location unclear, I doubt that, a journalist from the Telegraph has seen the wreckage!

They'll probably be requested by the military not to reveal the exact location right away, at least not until the US has taken care of the wreckage, recovered the crew and any sensitive data/destroyed sensitive data. Wouldn't want the location known to Gaddafi.

Loving these Rebels, top guys :)

He had parachuted into a field of sheep somewhere near Benghazi airbase and needed to escape - his fellow crew member had landed in a another field nearby.

Raising his hands in the air he called out "OK, OK" to greet the crowd. But he need not have worried.

"I hugged him and said don't be scared we are your friends," said Younis Amruni, 27.

The airman was one of dozens taking to the air to patrol a no-fly zone over Libya and take out Col Gaddafi's air defences.

They have turned the tide in the desert war, helping rebels keep the government from attacking their stronghold in Benghazi, about 45 minutes drive away.

A queue formed to shake the hand of the airman, as locals thanked him for his role in the attacks.

Witnesses said it was around midnight when they heard two planes streak out of the Libyan sky.

Mohamed Breek came out of his home a couple of hundred yards away to see what was happening above his flower-studded meadow.

"It was on fire," he said. "We didn't hear any shots it just fell from the sky by itself and then there was a big explosion."

A rescue helicopter swooped low to collect the second crew member - and strafed the ground to keep the locals at bay.

Bullets tore through Mr Amruni's driveway and gate.

"We are so grateful to these men who are protecting the skies," he said. "We gave him juice and then the revolutionary military people took him away."

On Tuesday morning the blackened wreckage was still smouldering. A guided missile lay at its side. The wings had been ripped from the long-range bomber and its two tail fins stood high above the grass, attracting opposition supporters and souvenir hunters alike.

Well this is a farce.

why because a plane crashed? yeh big farce alright...haha.
last time i checked fighter planes ditching due to failer is a checkbook thing, the crew are safe and all is good. it was only a few days ago the news were reporting on a rebel plane going down due to a systems failer...

nothing is invincible, especially something carrying tons of explosives.

Well, they have to at least arrest Gaddafi. If they dont and they blow a few things up and then leave him, we'll just have this problem again very soon.

It would also be seen a huge weakness on our part in the eyes of the middle eastern countries, and we dont want that.

One of the main problems is if we leave him in power very little is going to stop him from re tooling and causing a lot of damage someplace, Libya isn't actually that far away.

Besides he's never going to sell us his oil now :p

This is a strange situation with Libya & Col Gadaffi !
We have been in and out bed with this man over the years because of money and oil.
We ( the Scottish Gov ) even released the bomber for the Lockerbie bombing, WTF !
Is this about protecting civilians or protecting the oil, or more likely an opportunity to get rid of Gadaffi now he is in a spot of trouble ! !

We should not be firing on another Arab state. If the Arab league want to remove him, well let them bomb Gadaffi.
This looks, smells like another West led act to remove a dictator from a country we want to control.
