is £100 a good price for a second hand 5850?

I'm searching Ebay now and there's a XFX 5850 with a buy it now price of £105. Obviously this is a lot cheaper than RRP, and quite a bit cheaper than other cards on Ebay (most go for £125 from what I can see)

So do you guys think it's a deal or if I shop around could I find a cheaper second hand one? I need a cheap upgrade from a 5750 so this seems good?

So you don't think I can get cheaper? Since this is ~£20 below other ebay prices I was wondering if holding off would get me a better price!

It depends on how long you want to mess around on ebay for, I got 2 x 5870 for £135 each and just recently I seen another 5870 go for £130 which I though was very good prices, but flip the coin and look at 2nd hand 5770 prices and they are just stupid. So the 5850 at £105 is a good price but worth considering a look at the 5870 if you have time :)

The bidding starts at £95 with no reserve so I may just go in at that price and see where it gets me.

I want to wait to get cards for even cheaper but £100 for a 5850 seems like ridiculous value. I thought I was seeing things!

Are you planning on running crossfire later with the 5850? If not have you look at 4870x2 its almost as fast as a 5870 and you can get it for less than £100 though it will consume more power, make more heat and probably little bit noisy.

are the 4870x2's not DX10 cards?

they are, but tbh, even though dx11 looks a bit more fancy, dx10 is mot that much different and renders a lot faster than dx11. if youre looking to keep it for years though, it may be better off getting hte dx11 card for futures sake, however dx10 will likely still be supported in the distant future.

4870x2 is a DX 10 card And the 5850 is the DX11 card but the 5850 will not run DX11 mode very good, Infact the 5850 and 5870 really did fail at DX11 when you compare them to the 6900 cards.

I'm going to check my bank later this week and order that 5850 I linked up there.

.. I hope nobody gets to it first! /shakes fist

the thing is, you want a 5850, so getting anything lesser (even though it might handle things a bit better) will always leave you wishing you had gone for your first choice.

I looked at that 5850 on the bay. I was put off by the state of the case and the crappy psu its plugged into..
Would have been better if photgraphed outside the case....

Delivery:
Estimated within 13-15 working days

What are they doing hand delivering it on a skateboard.....:D

I don't see what case management has to do with it personally. Everything is working according to the description and my friend who has a Godly setup with a 5970 has a much messier case. It's a working card and dead cheap - if you're willing to be snobbish and pass on it then all the better for me :D

Plenty on the MM for £100 inc coming from people who have decent setups.. Not snobbery at all mate my Pc is built from 2nd hand parts just looks rough to me and a crappy psu not supplying enough juice can damage the card...

Its all yours mate.....
