Tesco Work Sample (graduate scheme)

I don't think the day was as hellish as some people have suggested in other forums but it was still pretty full on.
I think I made a complete mess on the intray exercise. Not sure if it was nerves or what but for the life of me I couldn't focus on re-arrange that diary.
I felt the rest of the day was moderate and I coped well within reason but I'm not hugely confident. As you say you cant really tell. They don't give anything away during the day. If the intray carries a large weighting for the day I doubt I've got a place on the scheme.

I wish I could be earning 6 figures after 5 years... I honestly didn't realise the wage was so much, but considering the turnover of the larger stores and the staff numbers involved I suppose it makes sense. I think I'm too nice to manage like this, I can imagine it can get pretty nasty at times. How much do are you dealing with the shop floor people and how much time is spent dealing with higher management and supply chains?

Hi Thanks,

I start in September. Training to be Store Manager. I haven't received details of which store I will start my training at yet. I am extremely lucky to have this opportunity, and I will work my a**e off to make sure I'm a good manager. I can't wait, this job will change my life! Tesco are an excellent company!

That's a bit premature!

Congratulations.

Thank you Benny. Well Im in there at least 5 times a week, plus Ive done my research with current employees and it seems excellent to me! Hopefully I'm right! A bit pemature I know, but Im still walking on air at the fact I actually got through! lol

Congrats to your job.... I couldnt stay in retail after I finished uni for reasons ive seen people post on here.

I gradated in July and in September started at EMC on their graduate scheme to become an account manager. I finish the training in April.

Good luck on your new careers guys...

Hi heroboy,

congratulations on being successful and getting the job!
i've got my assessment centre for graduate store role coming up this week.
I'm very excited but also very nervous as i've never been to one before.
Without me being too cheeky are there any pointers you can give me for the day such as which topics are discussed or any areas to prepare for in particular?
Many thanks.
