335i v 330i v 330d

Nope, it needs to have the USB audio interface to have iPod control. Not cheap to retrofit either.

Ah right, is that an option on all 3 series or was it introduced as standard at some point or part of some sort of entertainment pack?

Annoyingly can't filter by cars that have that on the BMW website.

it always has and still is a separate extra

its never been bundled with anything or as standard. The previous owner has to have explicitly specified it on order :( Its a £70 option as well. Nothing on a 30k brand new bmw !

have a play with the BMW car builder to familiarise yourself with whats standard and what options there are etc..

never realised it was more expensive back then. I just looked up the current price :)

even still £200 on a 30k new car is nothing.

Urgh gash, I think I read somewhere people run the audio jack from the headunit under something and have it popping out hidden in the arm rest or near there or something as a substitute. Is this a viable option?

I take it no other way to stay OEM and get iPod support.

Sounds hideous, I simply wouldn't buy a car without the USB interface to be honest. I think you can have a Dension Gateway thing installed but it's not as good as the OEM solution.

The cable thing is hidden I think, so you basically have the end of the audio cable in the arm rest and hide the iPod attached to the cable in there.

I did a search for 335i SE or M Sport with less than 60k, in manual, with leather, nav and bluetooth for under £20k and got 2 cars nationwide!

It's an option on top of the USB audio interface that lets you use a snap-in adapter to connect an iPhone to the USB port more neatly.

So, we can deduce they are either very rare, expensive and/or higher mileage... :p

I'm talking about bog standard iPod support (iPod Classic 80GB) and not an iTouch or iPhone, does this make any difference?

If you get the retrofit ipod cable its in the glovebox. It's also rubbish.

I do keep telling you that you need £20k+ for a decent low mileage high spec 335i. Not sure why you dont beleive me.

Oh I do.

I'm not in the position to buy at all, I was sorta just asking why that one was so cheap and can't believe you have to spec for £210 iPod support + more for BT + more for voice control when it's been standard on some cheap hatchbacks for a few years now.

You have to spec for Sun visors and Air conditioning in a brand new £37k Lotus... :p

It'll probably change on the new 3 series in a couple of years. The F10 has leather, bluetooth and even heated seats as standard across the range!

OT but whats the "mobile application preparation" on the current options list ?

Swear that wasn't there last time i looked ?
