*** I LOVE ENGLAND/UK - MY HOMELAND! ***

A few other west coast towns and isles in Scotland benefit from the gulf stream which gives localised tropic like conditions a lot of the year, great place to visit in summer:

Once I get the money I am out of here. Probably to Scandinavia somewhere. Sure taxes are higher but the difference is there you actually see a return on your taxes, here they just disappear. I mean really where the hell does my road tax go? The roads around here are like downtown Helmand (exaggeration, barely).

I recently had some family come to stay with me from America. Funnily enough, they said the same thing about America and they were amazed to actually to see peoples taxes actively being used in this country.

Whilst things aren't brilliant here we don't have it anywhere near as bad as some other countries do in pretty much all aspects.

It won't stop me moaning though :p

To all of you that are saying you'll be out of this country if you could, where would you go, why, and have you ever spent an extended period of time there (not on holiday)?

I thought much the same until I went travelling and spent some time in a few places. I had a fantastic time everywhere I went but there's no way I'd want to move to any of the places I stayed in, and that includes Australia which I had right up there in my list of places to live.

Isn't me being here a random/lucky event?

cant really be fair in an arguement as ive only lived in the UK.
that said ive not been to a place in the world were i didnt want to come home to after 2 weeks.

It has its ups and downs.. Chavs in general ruin it.. I like Birmingham, but if i was to live anywhere when i'm older (in the UK), based on my current knoledge of cities it would be Bath( somerset in general is lovely)- i live here term time.... Not too fond of London... although my impression of it has improved

That's probably due to homesickness rather than anything else i'm guessing a few years building friendships etc and you'd change your mind.

It does. :p Scotland is pretty diverse in many ways for a relatively small area.

Probably most of the best drives in the country are up around the West coast too.

If your down the south of England you'll still have warmer summers than bits of the highlands will, not much though few degrees at most.
