Being gay is curable

Haven't read the Nature article, but from a purely practical standpoint, it can't be that much of an issue, as they appear to have managed to maintain their knockout mouse line :p

Anyway. BBC-in-only-reporting-the-science-because-it's-controversial-shocker.

Given that serotonin releasing agents and reuptake inhibitors don't change sexuality I would say that serotonin levels are not a factor here. The research doesn't say the mice were gay anyway, it says lost their preference for females which is entirely different. Furthermore human sexual preference is not determined by smell.

All in all, thread fail.

Interesting!

It promoted a thought - what if taking a drug would make me straight, would I take it?

I decided that I probably wouldn't, as long as there are plenty of gays to go around :p
Surely something the result of a chemical imbalance should be cured?
Maybe. But, we are all just the result of our chemical balance (or lack of it), and effectively 'curing' any part of it just neutralises us, and that could be quite boring!
