Woman, 28, pregnant with dad's baby

Saw this story today when browsing.

I've heard of this "condition" before where people find themselves attracted to family members they've never had a familial relationship with, but I just don't understand it. I know that this man and woman have never had a father-daughter relationship but they know that they are father and daughter, and I don't get how you can let yourself go over that boundary...

Thoughts?

Well I imagine there are several factors.

Chief amongst which is that before they met until she was an adult and never had a family or father daughter relationship, to them the bounty was utterly superficial.

Honestly in this case I don't really care, there has been no foul play or abuse of a parental position, I would say having children is a step too far and they really should have thought better of it.

As Fenris says there hasn't been abuse of parental position or coercion so that makes it marginally better than it would otherwise be, however I'd have to draw a distinction between them having a relationship (which while somewhat distasteful to those of us with more normal familial relationships might not be harmful) with having a child together (which has a much higher chance of being harmful).

To be fair unless they adopt I wouldn't really worry about getting to the stage of drawing family trees. A lot of very near co-sanguineous children don't last long.

Read about this in the Sun the other day...pretty cringeworthy to say the least...the sheer enormity of what they are doing doesnt seem to have affected their decision to have this baby :/

Also the way they said in the Sun that when the child is old enough, they will tell his/her the truth :/

Im under the impression that incest is illegal and they could be arrested...why havent they been??...are the irish authorities that slack about this whole thing.
