73% Steam deal - SEGA Mega Drive Classics Collection

Possibly worth getting for Shining Force 2 and Streets of Rage 2.
Most MD games will have aged terribly but SF2 was a good RPG IMO, although some of the fights were a bit cumbersome (I remember one where it took AGES just to advance your army towards the enemy).

It is known that there are cheap knock-offs going around, but luckily the 3 black ones that I purchased from ebay a few years ago are legit. Build quality is perfectly fine after heavy use. It is in my view, the ultimate gamepad for 2D/retro games.

Example here, the left is the knock-off, whereas the right is legit as evident by the stickers.

Why not emulate? Or are these retweaked for higher res

if they are just an amalgamation of the 4 volumes of games, then no they are not reworked at all. even funnier, if it is an amalgamation then chances it comes bundled with an emulator like the volumes did.

£5.99 isnt a bad price i guess, but im sure most people who'd be interested have already played the same game via other slightly less legal ways.

Cool deal but I'm basically only interested in streets of rage. If it was 73% off each game I'd be on it in a heartbeat!

Never thought I'd see Eswat and Sword of Vermilion again, I loved playing those!
Not sure if they are best left to a rose-tinted memory though, bound to dissapoint now.

Sword of Vermilion was the first game to get me into rpg's, even though it is a bit basic(JRPG) :)

£60 it cost, back in 91 or 92 I think, I couldn't believe how good it was.

I own 2 of the Sega packs on Steam, and to be honest they offer no incentive to buy them (which I found out after I bought them) compared to the 360 collection which includes many extras for the games, manuals etc...

Shoddy deal for PC gamers, compared to the console packages, which are actually pretty neat to keep as part of gaming history.

I can never understand why Revenge of Shinobi is never on any collection on any platform.

I suppose I'll just make do with the cartridge and the proper pad(which actually makes it possible to complete it)

Eswat was stunning in its day, second only to Revenge of Shinobi for me. Both of these are actually really playable now in their own little way.

Eswat can be completed on a 360 pad, which is a bonus.
