What item in your living room would have had you in the most awe if you had walked in there when you were 10?

Put three things, biggest awe inducing thing first.

for me it would be,

1, PS3-I would have needed to be towed away by a large truck from a PS3 if I had seen one when I was 10.

2, Laptop, all I had seen of computers was on tv.

3, Large tv, damn all we had were 20 inch crt goldfish bowls.

For me, it was the notebook that one of the characters had in Inspector Gadget. You opened it up like a book and it had a screen and buttons. I asked Mum "is there such thing as one of these?" She said "no, but we may see them soon." And indeed, the laptop as we know it now appeared in the late 80s.

My mobile phone, which spends most of its time there.

Seeing as when I was ten we were using rotary dial phones, a mobile phone - and a small, good-looking one that could play games and send texts - would have been astounding.

Probably a big flat screen tv :p
We had a small CRT type TV :p

Oh and a PSP - I remember getting a Gameboy and not coming off it for the whole of Christmas Day :p

Everything.
Back in those days we had a black and white tv, not even a remote. So everything would looking awesome.

Can I have 5 things.

1) wii, look at the way you control it
2) ipad, this small sleek self contained unit that does everything
3) mobile, again this tiny device that does everything
4) tv, huge, in colour, even the thinness.
5) surround sound, did you even think of surround sound back then.

Does mobiles count? I remember having this old big Nokia phone that you had to stand on a top of a mountain to get coverage on. With the stuff on them now I think I would be blown away.

PS3/Xbox. It would have been a huge upgrade from my PS1 :D

A guide on the TV instead of on teletext or in a magazine.

1. The big TV
2. The Sky box? Although probably not since we had satalite TV from when I was pretty young.
3. ???? Cant think of anything else. Most other stuff I would have been impressed by are in my bedroom rather than the living room.

If someone gave me a PS3 back when I was 10 my brain would have imploded.
(Back then I had a Commodore VIC-20)

Even my Sega Megadrive blew me away when I was 13. If I'd had a PS3 I would probably have needed therapy.

Your lounge looked like a nice relaxing place to enjoy the evening TV in :)

Age 10 for me? errr VHS video player was pretty cool then.

Everythign had a wood laminate effect finish ... very swish.

Probably had a spectrum 128k near the TV.

HI-FI possibly without a CD player... or a very ghetto one.

Mobile phones and flat screen TV would probably shock me the most. As a ten year old we had the old style dial phones and a massive 21" CRT so a flat screen TV and a touchscreen phone would have had my attention.

A wind up torch, torches used HUGE batteries when i were a lad.

The 5 pence piece. So small.

Airwaves. So much nicer than Juicy Fruit.

Digital TV. Just look at it! I still remember analog tv, the fuzzy, snowy picture with crackling sound. Recorded onto VHS it looked even worse, remember 'Longplay'? :P Now we have DVD quality TV and HD too. I imagine if I saw the quality of digital TV at 10 years old I would have to have been peeled off the sofa.
