If this is true, then its terrible - but to go to war because of a rape? We should also then interfere with all the other countries where authorities act like this.

In conflicts, anywhere, woman get raped, brutalised and worse. It is the norm. Give a guy a rifle with a life or death threat and a lot will use that power.

We havent gone over there because of rape, we have gone over to protect civilians as this is how they are treated.
she didnt look particularly drunk and i'd put her mental state down to her predicament. I can but hope she gets out of there alive, but i cant imagine its likely.

We arent, but there is a responsibility of UN to protect nations from despots and what not. How that is implemented and how some countries are/are not protected is up for debate, but at a basic human level it is harrowing never the less.
I don't know... people from over there are a bit melodramatic and lax with the truth to say the least. She could be lying to make the government look bad.
