March in London on the 26th?

Well, to be fair we didn't get 1 million, but we got well over half a million :)

Do you really think anything is going to come of it though?

Protests like these, however peaceful they are intended to be, will always attract troublemakers.

I'm sure some of the protesters were intending to cause trouble, and I'm sure that there were groups that didn't care about the protest itself and showed up purely to cause trouble, but that is always going to happen nowadays unfortunately.

As someone said earlier, back to work on Monday and nothing has happened other than a few people being injured needlessly and the government will almost certainly ignore you all again, and rightly so.

If it helps you sleep at night that you've stood up for what you believe in, even though I'm sure many people there dont know what that really is, then so be it. :p

Loads of kids! At times there were mini crowds of kids in the crowds all talking and dancing. T'was very surreal.

Easily above 75/80 % were from trade unions.

Absolutely stupid to take children there. Firstly they could get injured and secondly I doubt they know anything about the things that are going on, or just the select few things their parents tell them.

It's a right wing members wet dream in here at times :p

Nah, I don't think much will come of it in all fairness, I think the focus will be on the trouble and not on the march itself (if that makes sense) but we do these things out of hope and a sense of injustice.

I stood up for what I believe in.

Getting battered by a train door and walking / standing for god knows how long will make me sleep well tonight :p

:D

hear hear! I'll let you all have that one :p

But everyone enjoys watching stupid people get hit by police ;)

In all seriousness, I'm in quite a lot of pain due to a train door and I'm bloody shattered, so I'll bid you all goodnight. It has been an amazing, just bloody brilliant day.

Please, I do urge you all to just know that the majority over the half a million people there were there to protest and march peacefully. Don't let a handful (well a few more then that) spoil it.

We were standing up and coming together because of a belief we have, I certainly wouldn't shoot you guys down for it even if I disagree'd with you.

N'night.

Got a friend posting crap updates on fb, just saying it's kicking off and it's the police getting heavy handed.....

I was in London earlier (completely unrelated, went in for shopping / ice skating) and saw a bit of the violence first-hand after wandering around to Chinatown to get something to eat. A few idiots, the police did a pretty good job of dealing with them.

When going to the Leicester Square tube station on the way home, it smelt like someone had lit a fire or something - there was a definite bonfire smell in the air. Is there any news about it?

400,000 countryside folk turned out for the fox hunting ban proposal from all RURAL corners of the UK. I doubt many of those 400,000 from this demo were from London, whereas I reckon most of the tens of thousands just got on the tube to see what all the fuss was about.

Now if a seemingly trivial matter of a fox hunting ban can amass 400,000, it kind of puts it into perspective how much or how little the general public feels about the cuts.
