iPad 2 graphics capability

Its funny to see PDAs still struggling to be useful outside professional practice. Them tech guys on stage talking out of their ass like they do takes skill and dedication.

Apple products are for people who either:

1. Have too much money.
2. Don't understand you don't actually own the apple product in the first place.
3. Don't understand quality.
4. Just plain ****ing stupid

That's bull****, gtfo and take your anti-apple approach with you.

I hate both fanboys and anti-fanboys equally.

That's mighty impressive from such a portable and compact device, couple more iriterations and they would have caught up to today's standards (PS3 & 360).

Actually Phil128 is right, though he forgot to add that some of them are dirty hippy types and a small percentage are homosexuals. I work in a place that does Apple computer courses for Adobe editing, what I and Phil have said is how the vast majority of the people that come in are/look like.

Thank you!

I hate Apple stuff!

You spend 600+ on their products and you cannot even changing the bloody battery,RAM, or hard drive WITHOUT sending the product to them.

How crap is that!

You might be interested to know that my MacBook Pro has:

  • 4GB of ram which I upgraded from 2GB... Myself
  • A new battery which I changed, wait for it.... Myself

Well when I went to the apple store in B'ham there was a lady who had a MacBook. When one of the guys turned it upside down it was all sealed up. No where to change the battery or anything.

The problem was with the hard drive (yes I was listening) and the guy said he will have to send it off to change the hard drive.

There wasn't even any screws at the bottom either.

So stupid

Mr Krugga said " And nowhere does it say FSAA.
Go, eat some apples."

Did you not bother looking at the screenshots or videos all of which show FSAA? It's very clearly on.

FSAA is pretty much the default for the GPU chip. I don't think I have even seen a game for it that doesn't have FSAA, most likely as the 3dchip has no performance drop for FSAA. All the HD games upgraded for the Ipad2 so far have FSAA, at least all the ones I have seen.

You can see FSAA turned on in screen shots and videos and its mentioned all over the web. Do I really have to dig out side by side videos or can you find them yourself?

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2011/03/...eal-racing-2-hd-ipad-finally-rolls-app-store/ "Real Racing 2 HD on an iPad 2 will be stunned with full-screen anti-aliasing," plus there are side by side comparison videos on youtube where you can see FSAA on and off.

Mr Krugga said " I see you're a statistician too. Is your expectation based on rolling a 10d dice or some other magical figures? Do you even know what ray-tracing is?"
Of course I know what ray tracing is and anyone doing research knows its due in the upcoming mobile chips. It's not a question anymore of if, but a question of when, next gen or the gen after.

We know next gen is meant to be x20 faster with a possibility of ray tracing although it will most likly be in the generation after. Anyone who thinks the Ipad 2 is a large jump forward should look at what's coming up with the next generation GPU chips. The SGX chip in the ipad 2 is just a refresh chip that's faster. The next generation is a true new 6 generation chip. This chip is going to be massively faster if it hits the target goals and PowerVR have a good track record of hitting the goals they state.

Mr Krugga said " EDIT: just checked your other posts. I see you have deep trust in Apple's hardware capabilities even though they always lag behind."
Graphically they are miles ahead of everyone else how can you say they are behind? You have it wrong anyway as I don't have a deep trust in Apple hardware. I have a good understanding of PowerVR hardware and trust in what PowerVR say. From a tablet or phone gaming point of view if you want the best graphics hardware and best looking games Apple are the best choice right now.

Apple stuff is CRAP!

You cannot, and will not beat PC's. Plain and simple!

Can you buy a Nvidia gtx 590 or a 6990 for an apple mac? Errrr NO.

I really don't know why people buy and use Apple products.

Think of it! Their products don't last 8 months until they release another version.

I talk to people at uni ( doing computer science ) and they thing that Apple products are excellent, and you cannot get viruses.

So lame.

How much do you actually know about Macs and Mac OS X?

Most (geek) Mac users also have extensive experience of another OS, so can justify their choice with more than blind rage and stereotypes.

It's not that simple anymore. If Apple get real time ray tracing via the GPU then it will it many respects look better then a gtx 590 or a 6990. It is a very real possibility mobile device will look better graphically then desktop cards within a few generations. Its strongly looking like the mobile platform will be getting ray tracing first at useable speeds. Time will tell if I am right or wrong.

If I am right games on an Ipad 4 with ray tracing could look absolutely stunning in comparison to next generation none ray tracing desktop PC cards. There are some really interesting bits of technology coming out for the mobile space. Free FSAA with zero performance loss is one such great idea.

If you want a phone or tablets that can do 3d graphics then Apple are the best choice. Nvidia GPU chips are just too slow in the mobile market, way behind what Apple provide.

phil128 siad "Think of it! Their products don't last 8 months until they release another version."
Apple are on a 12 months cycle which is double the length of Nvidia or ATI who are on a 6 month new product cycle at least from a GPU point of view.

If you cant understand why people buy Apple products, then have fun flipping burgers for the rest of your life, because thats what you'll be doing.

No it isn't, that's why they consistently demand a premium. It's well designed and high quality, but fairly poor value in most but not all cases.

You cannot, and will not beat PC's. Plain and simple!

Depends on your usage, really. I play a lot of games so I have a PC, but for most users a Mac is easier.

Can you buy a Nvidia gtx 590 or a 6990 for an apple mac? Errrr NO.

So? They're not gaming PCs.

I really don't know why people buy and use Apple products.

Well made, easy to use, hold their value, very nicely designed and generally hassle free.

Think of it! Their products don't last 8 months until they release another version.

Usually they do a yearly cycle of upgrades, for some things it's more often in order to keep up. I can't believe you consider a company improving their product often, something ALL good companies do is a bad thing? Really?

I talk to people at uni ( doing computer science ) and they thing that Apple products are excellent, and you cannot get viruses.

Well maybe they do find them excellent, and to some extent they have a point about viruses. There are a lot less of them for OSX, mostly due to the smaller user base.

Just the classic raging nerd who thinks he's top of the tree when it comes to knowledge, but in fact is no where near and has a deathly fear of the unknown.

Mainly from peer pressure actually, reasonably good advertising combined with the general populations lack of technological skill.

The little knowledge I have of Apple products have been great, I don't get what all the rage is about, my touch 32gb is brilliantly made, sleek, light, works flawlessly, and there's nothing else that can do what it does as well as it does.

I have nothing against Apple products, I think their asthetics and tech are great but I'd never go with them as I think they're massivly overpriced for what they do, plus working with lots of 3D apps I'd need to install bootcamp anyway to run 3DS Max etc. so what's the point. A PC will in general be cheaper, more powerful and better future-proofed than a mac.

But Apple have managed to create such a dedicated user-base for their products they'll never struggle to sell whatever they make. Apples marketing team are the bomb.

Agree with this.

I have nothing against apple, at least since they got rid of their crappy DRM.

Yes, I have an iPhone 4. Better graphics than the ds though :) BC2 on iphone = epic :)
