HD 6990 OR GTX590?

hi

this may seem a stupid question, but i cant find a definitive answer. i have had a look at some benchmarks but they seem mixed. and i know of the price difference and driver/card exploded of the gtx 590.

so which is best?

It is your decision. Everyone has different views, best to look through recent associated threads and go with what you personally prefer.

well from what i have read, the 6990 out performs the 590 on some things and the 590 out performs the 6990 on other. the 590 runs cooler and quieter though i think.
so, my opinion is, buy whichever you fancy and dont worry yourself over what gets higher scores than the other as everywhere will have a score to make the other one look worse.

If you don't need Physx or Cuda, then ATI is win...

And yes also they dont blow up!

on auto fan it's not as loud as some people are making out it is. also it doesn't run very hot, i've seen mine top out at 78c~

define best ? is it best = more ? than nVidia smashes AMD. If its best = fastest then I really dont think there is any winner as each card is faster in various different games.

Get a 6990 and an 8800GTX for Physx. Cooler card and Physx. Not that you need Physx these days anyway

But seriously its your choice and take into consideration there's a 10 pound difference in the asus 6990 and the msi 590.

They do about as good as each other but if u were to overclock the 6990 dosent clock well compared to the 590 which can overclock like a beast because of its great cooler.

my 6990 overclocks to 950mhz on core with stock voltage!!

you see, i am very interested and am teared between the two, and honestly cant decide,
from what i can gather, the hd6990 is cooler than the gtx590 and both are equally loud and fast. and in some tests the 6990 is better while in others the gtx 590 is btter.
so can someone giv me a break down of both the cards?
