My mate has this awesome party cellar with a bar and everything that we used to have LAN parties in which was always awesome! we'd just stick a load of tables together, a group of around 8 of us would go round with our PC's lots of beer so get very drunk and order a stack of take aways :D

Was there a fire exit? What if a fire blocked your only route of escape from the basement?

That would be nasty :S
Pros and Cons man, PROS AND CONS!

We kitted out a garage last year for Lan's, can fit about 8 of us in. I remember when black ops was released, we decided to lan up that night but it was a little too cold in there!

Moved into a 3 bed house this year and im turning the second bedroom into a Lan roon. The floor's already laminated so its saved me a job. Got 100m of Cat5 and a switch or two, just need to buy a couple more 6ft trestle tables and jobs a good'un :)

well put my name on the list! lol,

There is a guy on here that has a LAN every few months in Halifax I believe, have a search in the PC Games forum.

i might try and organise one in wakefield

Im up for some of that,

if you want to sort anything out, plan etc.

How about doing it right, hired venue, but we need to make a return, so it would be ticketed.

small venue test the waters, but we have to have intrest first!, troll round looking for potential gamers.

my boss own an empty unit that i can use anytime i want with power and central heating (cant remember if it has aircon or not) size is 30 meters by 40 meters (about)

No internet access though,
Could have potential.
But as i said before i wouldnt know where to start technically wise,

Depending on the amount of participants, you need to be careful of the power available. Some rigs can be quite power hungry, and would wouldnt want 30 high end rigs running off one single ring. You need to work out and distrubute the load.

You will need a few decent switches, a server with firewall and probably pfsense to block torrent downloading etc. Lots of cable, tables and chairs, toilets and (possibly) shower :)

You are generally going to need a net connection for most Lan's these days, mainly because of Steam and DRM management. Unless you fancy armeggatron for the whole night :D

The one and only LAN party I ever went to was a work one where we set up in the helpdesk and had masses of pizza/snacks.

Playing CS:S and some other games, times back then were leet.
