Ok, gonna get Steam. I had it YEARS and years ago but didnt like it and have been doing my best to avoid it since.

But 2 games which are steam only have persuaded me to surrender to its will

Shogun 2
Metro

Are there any other bargain steam games that everyone and their mother should own?

Left 4 dead
CSS
Team Fortress 2
Day Of Defeat

All great games which wont break the bank, although I'm sure some middle aged over opinionated keyboard hero is going to slate me for even suggesting CSS :)

Check the 'specials' section of the store, it'll have the latest cheap pick-ups :)

Half-Life 2...

I got that in all the hype recently with HF1,+expansions, HF2 and ep1 and 2 and expansions and TF1 and all that...

Hated the lot!! lol
Glad I only wasted about £6

I'd suggest Evil Genius - I think that's cheap. Be a Bond villian & build a lair with henchmen, it's a laugh :)

Gratuitous Space Battles
Mount and Blade: Warband
Sega Mega Drive Games Collection

......plenty more to find, depends on what floats your boat.

You didnt like half life? jeez your actually nuts!

maybe the best fps series ever in my book but everybody is entitled to their opinion its just yours is wrong :D

my bad :D i meant multiplayer first person shooters. Ive already played Halflife 2 ages ago though. I was just thinking maybe i am missing out on specific steam deals/games?

The really good sales generally come a few times a year. Easter/Summer/Thanksgiving/Chrimbo etc. Big holidays.

Other than that, you've got the mid-week and weekend deals all the time that can be good sometimes. :)

In the mean time, these are all the retail games that can be activated on Steam. So if you find a bargain price elsewhere, you can link them to your Steam account for all it's benefits.

Metro 2033 should arrive tmw. Shogun by Monday :)

Should i expect to download lots of gigabytes of patches straightaway or can i avoid that?
